The D700 and 70-300 VR with 24-70 lenses with SB 900 on occasion proved the best combination in the difficult light of the Rogers Skydome at the Canadian Aboriginal Festival this past weekend in Toronto, Ontario. It's one of Toronto's premier events that I have shot with various cameras over the years.

Grand Entry with hundreds of costumed dancers and drummers. The inimitable singer Buffy Sainte-Marie. The Fashion Show with Aboriginal designs. The dozens of displays and booths! This Nikon combo really shone.

Comments or suggestions are always appreciated.

Very nice John. I also use the D700, 24-70 & 70-300VR. That combo covers pretty much everything I shoot. The 2 lenses have similar weight and size so they feel like a natural combo to me. The 70-300VR is probably the steal of the century for price vs performance. Wonderful on the D700.

Regards, Ed

Great Pics John.......

Also have the D700 and 24-70/f2.8. Fantastic combo.....

Have the older 80-200/F2.8 which works beautifully for me.......

Wonderful on the D700.
That certainly is a great combination. Thanks for the 70-300 VR note as I also have it but was considering selling it. I must try it out as it does lighten the load and extend the reach a bit. I did use it a fair bit on the D200 before.

Thanks Trevor. I find that the D300 and D700 do bring out the best in lenses and with low noise at higher ISOs do really allow use in a wider variety of shooting situations.
