San Diego area, places to not miss seeing

Yes - you're correct! Tons of great photo ops in SoCal. Didn't mean to sound argumentative - sorry if I did. I just had a friend who bought a house in Colorado with one wall covered by a picture of the "Lone Cypress", so it sort of became a running thing. Anyway, La Jolla/Torrey Pines is an embarrasment of riches photographically - no argument there!

Happy shooting,

Barry
And BTW, that "...classic scene of the lone, twisted pine clinging to
a sandstone bluff, with blue sky and puffy clouds all around.."
wasn't taken in San Diego, it's this one:

Actually in Monterey, CA on the 17 mile drive - another truly
stunning area if you're heading north...
Lots of opportunities for such photos at Torrey Pines. A quick
Google search yielded this gallery, e.g.:

You've got an impossible task. You will miss some stunning places not matter what !
Make sure you do not miss these little guys. They live at La Jolla Cove

too bad my SoCal photo galleries are not up yet, but:

yeah gots to hit La Jolla, they have pelicans up close on the rocks as well as sea lions, the cove is pretty scenic.

oh and they also have pterodactyls!:

dining is funny there since it is either the worst, most sickening of all the fast food chains or something fancy, haha

make sure to hit Coronado, visit the Hotel Del Coronado, beautiful hotel and beach:

then hit the opposite side of the island Coronado for the night view across the water of the SD skyline.

hit pt loma

ride the elevator in the big hotel in SD up to the top for the view

san diego zoo
My wife and I are coming to the San Diego area on vacation in a
couple of weeks and I am wondering... what are the "don't miss"
places to see and take pictures? Any help would be appreciated since
we've never been to the area
