Hi, I just bought a new CF card for my D300 and when I put it in, it shows -E- and the camera thinks there's no CF card in it.

Could there be any other conclusion other than "the card is broken"?

This may sound obvious but if it works with other CF cards then your card is broken.

Which brand CF card are you using?

I currently use a 2gb sandisk Ultra II and I bought a 8gb sandisk Extreme III (this is the one that is not working, I will get a refund)

Hi,

If you install this card in the card reader, does your computer see it? If it does, try to format it in the computer. Just make sure to format it to FAT32. See if this helps.

Best regards

In the camera, I can't format it because the D300 doesn't see the card.

and I don't have a card reader to try it in my computer...

Try it in another camera or device that uses CF cards.

Worst case scenario - you make have a broken pin in your camera...

Hopefully it's the card. Does your camera see/write to other CF cards okay ? If so then most likely the card has an issue.

Ya, it's not the camera because my other card works just fine.
