Here we go... my challenge rant and rave

There they go, er SHE goes, winning everything again

Congrats CindyD (one on the right?) for Challenge 20, I refuse to vote any more as it is the kiss of death for whom I vote! Good luck at the County Fair and let's see some photos of Pig Shampooing and Clipping, sounds as much fun as trying to eat poutine.

I thought you were american/canadian ?? Decent beer and american/canadian do not go in the same sentence...

Greetings

Sabine

Please do not confuse good Canadian microbrewery beer with American or Canadian mass market beer.

We have some fantastic beers here, really we do. avoid things like molson canadian or labatt blue. go for things by sleemans or big rock or alley cat, to name a few.

I believe there is also quite a good microbrew industry down south.

and one more thing.....please do not lump Canadians and Americans into the same category. its like lumping Austrians and Germans........

That's fitin' talk Sabine!

I lived in Germany for 10 years and I know good German Beer and one does not get good German Beer brewed here, at least that is my experience, there some good imitations however brewed locally in the Vancouver area. I consider the American "German" brews to be mere pale imitations with no taste. But I am talking about the other beers - ales and the like brewed in the traditional style of which there are many in the Vancouver area. The microbreweries here really put the large breweries to shame. If you are in London then you must have experienced some really good beers from the smaller suppliers?! once tried you cannot go back to the other stuff. Next time you are in Vancouver I'll buy you some really good beer.

Nice points Ann!

Yes there are some very good micros in the States, personally I only drink the nasty canned stuff when I have no other choice, people think I am a beer snob 'cos I only take the special beers when I go to parties, bbqs and the like, but what is the point?

I'll tell you where the frozen north is ... It's in my backyard
all winter long because of the blasted jetstream currents that blow
all the frigid arctic air from up yonder in northern Canada, down
here so it gets around -30 with the wind chill!
I am happy in the winter when our weather comes from Canada. It means its going to warm up. Our weather usually comes from Siberia.

So, what is the coldest temperature everyone has used their camera?

505v regularly down to -10F
once down to -20F, when I forgot about the temp inversion.

Ok, I'm a newbie but, it seems to me we could make this even more confusion by not listing a start time at all !!! Just list a start day and end day. We all know when the end of each day is where we live.... dont we? lol

The Challenges need not specifically start at X time of day and end at X time fo day do they?? The only reason for an end time is so people can makes sure they slip in their images before challenge ends. But, the host does NOT have to post a winner in specified time frame anyway. So, what's the "time thing" all about anyway??

In closing....

just set a start DAY and end DAY and give the host a day or two after the end day to post the winner. Isn't that simple enough???

What's your opinion... inquiring minds want to know!! :-)

Good idea. I like it. Just have to figure out how to delay voting until everybody's day is over!

I still say if you are waiting until the last minute to post then you are taking the challenges way too seriously. It should be something fun to do not something to drag out until the last minute.
