a900 is useless at base ISO, D3x stellar...
LMAO. These images look very nice -- and identical to Alpha 900 images.

I will bet you a thousand dollars I can mix and match 10 images from each camera, strip the EXIF, and you won't be able to tell which is which.

I have used the 5d, D200, D3 and currently the 1DsM3 ---- nothing
even comes closer to these samples.
If you had been hanging out on the STF forum, you would have seen a great many images that have exactly the same look.

And yes they are breathtakingly good. It's a fabulous sensor, both in its Sony variant and slightly tweaked Nikon version.

yes please, can someone do this for me.. i've seen some stella images on the a900 forums here, and makes me wonder.. i can kit up some very nice z glass with change left over for the askin price of the d3x.. i just called my dealer to find out the aussie $ but he left for the day.. ughs~!

Just download the ISO 100 studio files : wow!

I can only compare it with the Hassy 39 that I had used once or twice.
I think finally i will have to shell out the amount (I can buy a flat
AND a car for that price in India!)

I think that is highly unlikely. The a900 look is mushy and "plastic", at least those 10 JPG samples from RAW that I have seen (base ISO).

Nowhere does it say a Sony sensor, and no Nikon pro body has ever used a Sony sensor, so I wouldn't be at all quick to call this one Sony neither.

Especially since the sensor data isn't the same and Sony claimed their 24MP sensor to be Sony exclusive.

Osku, you are wrong. they looks better than that.
I'm not going to plug here some a900 images, but you can search if you like.

According to Thom they say in Japan that Nikon leases a new Sony fab. So it is a Nikon sensor even it might have some common parts with the a900 sensor. So almost completely different sensor - as are the results one can see if has eyes. For those that do not see there are multiple options (buy new eye-glasses, buy new monitor...) at least on a DELL 3008WFP at calibrated aRGB the D3x files are stellar, and the a900 files I have seen are lousy - sad but true.
