Upgrade from D80 to D200 or D300?

OK, so I'm a little slow (upgrade wise) but I've been using my trusty old D100 for 5 yrs now and waiting to upgrade for low $$$. I think that for my main subject interests of macro and airshows, that the D200 will be a great upgrade. I have a lot invested in CF cards and related storage and the D90 just didn't quite interest me. The D300 was out of my $$$ range and I landed one sweet deal on NEW USA D200. Hows this sound 848.00 less 10% (85.00 paypal coupon) and subtract 200.00 (live.com) nets about 563.20. I'm looking forward to 5fps and true MLU plus the other step up features over the D100. I know that I'll need to learn the new system, but it can't be too much more than the old finicky D100. Thanks all for the tips on deals and ways to save extra.

What a refreshing post. Someone whose made use of their initial investment, and upgraded to something without pining over 'the next big thing'. I looked at your gallery, and I think you've got some great pics. I'm sure the D200 has found a great home.

Enjoy your purchse.

Thanks Mario,

Well said. I've been reading these DPReview Forums for about 6 yrs and one thing that I can say that has been the best advise is to learn our equipment and make your use of it to be an example of your abilities. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know every feature of my D100, but I know it's limitations and they finally got me to the point were I need better. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the D200, my only fear is that the knowledge base here at DPReview on this camera will be harder to find and that my threads/questions may seem to some to be too outdated. I know that there are many here that I admire and aspire to only partially equal in my skills - so bare with me when I ask advise on my new trusty old D200.
