Lloydy, Kim and certain others...

Ok! First I am not exactly going to get involved here but...
And yet you just did.
It seems
that whenever I read one of Dave's posts it always appears upbeat and
enthusiastic but Kims always appear to be agressive esp. if he
doesn't agree with something.
Did you do any research at all? Or are you transmitting a vague impression to add fuel to the nastiest thread seen in months?

You clearly missed the long string of insult posts Dave has let off in the last couple of months, so that begs the question as to why you chose to go back on your opening statement that you were "not exactly going to get involved here?"

You have just demonstrated the meaning of the expression "you can't get a little bit pregnant."

. . .

You commented mere minutes ago that you had been bitten before and
that you bite back. Now the fact is that you bit me, and I didn't
even know you were there. :-)

If you desire to continue to bite me, please by all means, feel free
to do such. But to do such might be perceived by some as quite
foolish, as I have done nothing to you.
The problem is that you are too fair and kind, praising both Dave and Kim. Had you joined the pack that uses the flimsiest of excuses to attack Kim, Dame B. wouldn't have singled you out, but evidently she chooses to see this as the friend of her enemy is also her enemy. I've been wondering about your name for a while - are you even blonde? :)

I apologize if I misinterpreted your meaning, Gus made a comment that was intended to mean that everyone together was forming a cacophonous roar and your follow on statement was that we could pick the forum member that best suits us to blame for this. This, to me, seemed like you were saying that the agreed upon cacophony could be assigned to any one poster (not necessarily a specific poster) whereas I think Gus' intent was that it applied to all of us as a group. Gus posted right after that you had misinterpreted his meaning so it wasn't just me that felt your comment was polarizing. I think my read on your post was accurate and feel I was not out of line saying so, if you want to clarify what you really meant I will happily reinterpret your original post based on that clarification.
Ted
Well, you have the definition somewhat correct but my feeling is that
Gus was not attempting to single out any one poster but meant the
forum as a whole. Each person/poster singing their part of a
different song in a different key to a different time signature.
Please show me where I attempted to single out "any one
poster"...unless you have one in particular in mind for some reason
that you think this applies to? "A large variety of mismatched,
discordant sounds..." You can pick any forum member that suits you
as I said.
For whatever reason you chose to attempt to polarize Gus' intent into
somthing else.
No, you chose to project your interpretation on my post, and to
polarize my intent...for who knows what purpose.
Pray telleth; what is a cacophony?

A large variety of mismatched, discordant sounds making it difficult
to understand anything being said. You pick the forum member to whom
that most applies.

Woody...nice scrap, you started.

Not likely to find much peace & karma on this forum so you need to figure out the positive side of it.

I think of the Fuji forum like the sport of motor racing.

The participants take their roles very seriously. Besides trying to win and stay alive, they are also aware of their importance as entertainers for the spectators, who are vastly greater in numbers.

And the spectators mainly come for the prangs (crashes).

That's why the fly-byes always mention "train wrecks" with such glee.

Team element is important too -- greater strength comes in alliances with others. But you must be prepared to run your own race in the last resort.

Another good comparison is with chess.

It is an intellectual game that relies on a good knowledge of your opponent especially of his/her strengths and weaknesses.

Look, read, learn - maintain your guard until the decisive moment -- then strike.

Gosh, it's exactly the same technique required to make a truly great photograph.

You cannot help but learn in a competitive and combative environment.

Above all, in the words of the treasured proverb: Never get angry.

Only get even.

the Fuji Talk Forum

Remember the savage devouring of the Arctic Fox!
Almost everyone bent over backwards to calm the OP down during that exchange once she began reacting strangely; but every comment, no matter how nice, was taken and twisted into yet another escalating crisis.

Revisionist history might be satisfying for you as a vehicle to chastise the forum, but that hardly makes it an accurate record ...

This may be the most vitriolic thread I've ever seen in any forum. If there's any chance that it will be removed, now is the time to PDF it to prove what was said, or just to muse over in our old age.

Not likely to find much peace & karma on this forum so you need to
figure out the positive side of it.
All posts (with the exceptions of yours and maybe one other) in the last 5 or 6 hours have been cordial, pleasant and on topic.
And the spectators mainly come for the prangs (crashes).
As with anything done in public ...

But make no mistake -- they want the crashes to be legitimate, not manufactured through obvious desperation for attention.
Look, read, learn - maintain your guard until the decisive moment --
then strike.

Gosh, it's exactly the same technique required to make a truly great
photograph.
Only in the action genre, and even then ... it is more about picking the right spot and knowledge of the subject than it is about physical timing, which modern action cameras (like the 11fps D3) make a non-issue.
You cannot help but learn in a competitive and combative environment.
That is true to an extent ...

When one of the combatants fails to realize the battle is over and continues yapping at the others (sounds like your last few hours), no one learns anything and all we want is a little peace and quiet.
Above all, in the words of the treasured proverb: Never get angry.

Only get even.
That you say such a thing is no surprise at all ...

Since this thread shows no sign of dying a natural death, I'll try to hasten its end through max post number and add another 2 cents to second what Gus wrote below!! Hear hear, the wise man has spoken once again!

This has been a thread with some amazingly spiteful posts, and some of the worst of them have come from what apparently has now become the "Dave&Blanche" camp. Thanks for letting us know that we have to take sides, btw - at least, until the next chapter in the life of FTF.

Now, flame away.

CHRISTA
Dave wrote to me that he was on the verge of leaving this forum, as
so many did without saying just because of the tirades of Mr.
Letkeman.
Dave shows us many photographs of things that are of interest to him,
and as for a matter of fact... to me as well.
Well if Dave did PM you that he was considering leaving the forum,
then I for one believe that it would be a good idea for him to take a
break. You also should consider taking a break from it. You are
both so personally wrapped up in this negativity surrounding your
history with Kim, that is is coloring the whole forum. And you are
too far into it to see or care what it is doing.
In my opinion, whatever positive and helpful bits that came from
Dave's early photo threads and his early tips on the S100s have been
completely overshadowed by this incessant negative tete-a-tete....
and the us vs them pack mentality that has arisen from it.

It would be interesting to see how the forum would look without the
cacophony for a minute.
It is below every
standard of social behaviour to accuse Dave to produce boring
pictures of his environment and this is exactly what Mr. Letkeman is
about... make your audience feel stupid so you feel better yourself.
You can talk like a master when you are a master, so Kim better shut up.
In the end all that shall remain to visit this room are Dumb Blonde
and Mr. Letkeman. Grtz. Blanche
Again, please try to stop this this kind of post. It does not help
anything
