I just returned from Canon 5d2 experience function in Hong Kong. It was a fantastic experience of the 5d2 for previous registered owners of Canon photo products, and there were about 20 units of 5d2 for you to play with and I was advised in advance to bring my own CF card greater than 1 gb. Each 5d2 was attached to a different lens for you to play with and there were the new 24LII, 35L, 50L, 85L, TS-E90, 135L, 17-40L, 16-35LII, 70-20L4IS, 100-400L, 17-40L, 24-105L, 14II and 15 fisheye, and some macro lens. There was a video booth to demonstrate the 5d2 video capability and post production using Mac and final cut, and there were booths with the PIXMA Pro9000 and 9500, and also a G10 booth.

There was also a tallk from Harlim Djurhar Winata plus an exhibition of photos taken with the 5D2, and some studio demonstration and demonstration of DPP, but I missed those as I was late for the event.

I brought a EXTREME IV 4GB card and took home some 90 photos plus a video. Because each camera was set differently, I have to reset all functions before I use each camera (and set RAW + JPEG & ISO Expansion) and in some photos, i forgot to switch off the High ISO NR. Just downloaded the latest Canon softwares from the Canon website to view these pictures.

I don't know whether I can post these pictures as I cannot remember when I sign up for the event, are there any terms which do not allow me to do so, especially when some of them show the faces of Canon employees and other participants?

Anyway, it was like I was in a photo Disneyland and it is simply a fantastic 5d2 experience. Thank you, Canon!

How and what is the best way to post?

The file size for each JPEG when converted from RAW ranges between 11 to 18 MB per photo. What's the best way to crop and post?

DPP or Photoshop?

Who's Harlim Djurhar Winata? Can't find anything on google about him.

DPP. Do I need to do 100% crop? If not, it would be difficult to see noise differences between ISO 800, 1660, 3200 and 6400. How to do it? I know how to look at the photos in 100% view, but not crop them. When converting to JPEG, in the quality and the dpi sections, what should I select? Many thanks.

You have only provided one photo with a 100% crop. Could you do the same for the rest? Otherwise it would be impossible to make any conclusions.

Judging by the only crop you've made, I can see that image quality of 5d2 at ISO 1600 is worse than IQ of 5d1 at the same ISO. The detail and color are not so well preserved as 5d1 managed to do.

Oh! Where was this event held? Is it still on and open to any one who has registered Canon products in HK?

I'd love to go, just never heard of it before.

Thanks!

The event was held at Kowloon Bay at the Hong Kong International and Trade Exhibition Centre. About two weeks ago, I received an email from Canon HK with an advertisement of the 5D2 event "Canon Imaging Products Workshop and Seminar". It says that successful attendants will be drawn by computer. I am not a pro, and I think that a lot of people who have registered SLR products with Canon HK (through warranty registration) should have received the email. The advertisement requires me to enroll and choose one of the three sessions: Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and Friday evening. The event is free of charge (but will use 1,000 Canon loyalty points which you gain when purchasing Canon products in Hong Kong). Some 5 days later, I received a confirmation from Canon HK.

The event also gives you quite a few free Canon publications including 5d2 catalogues, Formula One with 1dMk3 hardback, EOS system, and some others, all of which are fantastic.

I'll try to post some more picture soon.

Thanks for that info, looks like I must have deleted/lost the canon email :( Anyways, it looks like it was a great event. Like the previous poster asked, how was the 24L II ?
