Decided to pick up an Elph on the way home from work.
Here's my first picture ....
Taken with whatever charge was in the battery....
Without changing any settings ...strictly auto whatever..
Resized for web (of course)

Taken at dusk (no sun)..flash fired automatically.
IMHO...Not too bad

Doesn't compare to my 990...But a great novelty to keep in your pocket. (if my daughter will allow me to use it) :-)

wow. very nice. much better than ones i've seen from other people. i guess you just have to be lucky to get a 'non' defective one. heh. thanks for posting!

Outstanding shot Anthony. It seems this camera is designed primarily for people photos. And as such will earn its keep. I notice however the green is frightfully dark. Dev did some shots in Cal. The greens were almost black. Your pic howerver is beautifull. So again I say this seems to be a people picture camera.

My photos are about the same. My landscapes are frightening. They remind me of my old ektchorme shots taken in Cuba in the early 50's. I purchaced my s-100 last saturday. I am happy with the camera. But for landscapes, I know I will use an s-10, s-20, coolpix 990 or an olympus 2020. Thanks for the beautifull photo. Please send more. God bless. John

Thank you.
Like I keep stressing...For it's intended purposes, this camera is a joy!

I'll post some more later

:-) That "frightfully dark" green door is the EXACT color of my door!

I've been talking about changing the color lately....You've now inspired me to do so.
I might add this to help you:

P.S. I printed this pic on my Epson 870 on a 4x6..Took it outside to where I took the pic.
Everything matched perfectly.

John,

Don't let the green grass fool ya!

Pay attention to what you're exposing for.

Use the "exposure lock" as often as you can. Aim at your subject...hold the shutter half way...THEN compose. You'll find yourself getting much better balance and accuracy in your pics.

Also keep in mind...When you're shooting landscapes...there might be alot of "background" light given off by the sky...Try to increase exposure maybe a 1/2 stop or so..to correct the metering system. After all, we see the whole picture..the camera is reading the amount of light, and probably being fooled!

Try aiming at a darker area of your landscape..then hold the shutter half way...Then compose and shoot.
Let me know it your problem improves.

Thanks Anthony. Anthony how do you get the photo into the computer. Do you usb direct or do u use a reader? Also, Anthony , what flash setting did u use for the picture of your little girl standing on the lawn and what resolution did u use. It is an outstanding phot. I would like to be able to do so good. Thanks.
and God Bless. John.

Great shot Anthony!
Well done.

Congrats!

The skin tones are perfect. Did you do something with the pic or it is only resized ?

I use a card reader.
As far as flash settings and camera settings:
I shot in the "normal" "out of the box" mode. What is it..Lfine ?
Haven't had the chance to shoot more..because the battery is charging.

The "key" is to give the camera a chance to evaluate the exposure. Aim your camera at whatever it is you want to emphasize(in my case it was the face)..Hold the shutter half way, then recompose and shoot.
Remember: The camera uses a center-weighted exposure metering system.

Keep in mind...This is a typical "Point and Shoot camera" designed to take pictures...Not a camera designed to "create photographs"!

Just to Capture the moments!

Congrats!

Only resized.

I knew there would be alot of people anxious to see some pics...so I didn't fool around with it. Then again...I really don't think I could improve the quality in this case...maybe a little unsharp mask that's all.

Thanks again
Tony

I find out the s100 gets great close-ups and macros. Also the portraits are ok in moderate light. It just die if you take landscapes...

Here is simple macro - see the details are perfect, no aditional lights, no flash
