The online site http://www.walmart.com is a great place to get pictures printed. Excellent price.

For new people that might not know, there are also some Walmart stores that have the same printing machine -- Fuji Frontier. Call the store first to make sure that is the one they are using.

It might look like I'm doing nothing but, at the cellular level I'm really quite busy.

You might also want to find out if they print Glossy or Matted. I prefer Glossy and my local Walmart uses matted for 1 hour. They said that is what the people wanted so they only use matted paper. :(

You can upload up to 20MB without having to buy space. You pictures also must be 2.0MB or less in size. Walmart then allows you to store those pic's there for 30 days. If you want to use walmart as an online gallery, like Pbase, and keep you pic's there for MORE than 30 days, then you need to pay for the storage. Price's are determined buy the size of the print.

I believe the prices start at $0.26 for a 4x6 something like $3 or slightly less for a 8x10. Not sure, mainly print 4x6.

FYI - The Savon by my house (SoCal) has a machine that prints from disk. I believe they do 8x10s, I know they do 4x6 and 5x7. a 4x6 is 39 cents.the 5x7 that I had printed looked great! and it only takes a few minutes. It's not the self serve machine but the same machine they use to print all their one hour photos. I'm sure there all many more Savons with the same machine. I think it's a Kodak as they use Kodak paper. I'll need to try the Walmart as well.

I will likely get flamed for this, but here goes:

I learned long ago to NEVER trust any photographic work to wal mart. Sometimes, you actually get an op that knows how to print, but most of the time, they just let the machine run on auto. I have had them mess up printing, and rather than fixing it, they had excuses like "youve probably got a defective camera". I would have the same photos reprinted at my usual lab, to perfection. I'm not saying that saying that all wal mart labs are this way, but i havent used one i'm satisfied with yet. My advice is to find a smaller, more personalized lab. I live in a relativly small metro area, so the lab I use does not only most of the areas pro work, but alot of your basic snapshooters and discriminating hobbyists as well. And they all give their customers the same professional quality, pro or amatuer. Now, given, wal mart appears a better bargain pricewise, but given the difference quality, is it really?

If you, as a photographer, are satisfied with Wal Mart, fine. If you actuall find a good one, fine. I know many of you wont agree with what I have said here, but take my photography seriously, and I believe my photography deserves to better than wal mart.

What do you have to lose (other than a few dollars) by trying Walmart for digital prints?

I would say that 95% of the times that I have used wal-mart's photo services, I have been dissapointed. I would rather give my business to a place that I KNOW will give me the results I expect, rather than playing russian roulette just to save a couple of dollars.

If you use WalMart.com for digital prints, and send them your own edited images, what is there to mess up? Now I could see them messing up film prints, but I don't use film anymore, so I don't care.

If you use the Kodak machine at WallMart, 4x6 prints are .48 and 8x10 are $5. You can do quite a bit of editing with the machine. Taking a camera card to use, I can get a print almost one a minute and the editing process is very fast. You can see what you'll get in your print. I've had excellent results.

The local walmart near me has the new Kodak machine. You can make 4x6 and jazz them up with borders .49 each, and 8x10 are $4 and change each.
Pretty cool stuff.

Costco's online site (Kodak does the back-end processing) charges $0.24 per 4x6 print. They ship out of somewhere in No.Carolina. Has taken me 2 business days to get prints when I have ordered.

Can keep up to 200 pictures stored at their site. They require you to buy something within 6 months in order to maintain your account.

I have like the quality from Costco, but I am unfamiliar with the quality of Wal-mart. Costco has machines in some stores that let you take you msartmedia in to order prints for speedy printing. I have never bothered to do that because the online site is so darn convenient if you have a broadband connection.
Anyone know offhand what the prices are? I

No, i've only used the local store, not walmart.com. I only rarely use film anymore either, but still, if I want something better than my inkjet can deliver, I still take it to my trusted lab. They know what i want, and the guy printing is a master who has done it for years.

Plus, I would rather see the finished results in store, not order them off of a website and have my prints at the mercey of the U.S. mail. . If there is something not to my satisfaction, I can have it corrected right there, which is something you can't do with an online service.

Actually, I havent used the Kodak machine for a while. I experimented when I was using film, and wasn't fully satisfied with the results. I may try it just to see what I get.
