Can it fit into Fuji camera?

I'm inclined to agree with Jay. Though I expect a 256MB SmartMedia from Sanyo later this year, I've seen nothing to indicate that a higher-capacity SM is on the horizon.

I don't think that's a correct ad--if such a thing existed it would be big news long before it actually hit the shelves.

However, to answer your question:

For technical reasons I can't quote (because I don't thoroughly understand it), 64mb was a "gate" in the way memory is structured, so that cameras had to be specifically designed to use it. But above 65mb, the next "gate" is at a gigabyte, so that any camera that can use 64mb can use any amount up to a gig without being specifically designed for it.

I've seen the explanation a couple of times on the newsgroups, so I'll try some Googling to find it again.

I think it's correct. Look at that price...more than the price of a new 602S. You can get 4 128MB cards (still 512 MB) for a skosh over $200.

I have to agree with the previous poster that I think we would have seen a lot more mention of a 512 Smartmedia card. They went right by 256 if they did....

I checked again the ssdfc (original name for Smartmedia!) web site and nothing mentions SM bigger than 128 MB yet. But there's a "members" section where more info is disclosed to manufacturers.

I hope thet high-capacity Smartmedia isn't going the way of seat ejectors for helicopters...
