I have this lens also and yes it is a very good lens. People say
auto focus is too slow but I dont think so only when it is from end
to end of the focal lenth. I also have the 80-200 2.8 L and picked
it up on Ebay for 300.00 this is my favorite lens. Point is for
people who cant afford new L glass these lenses are the best for
the money if you can find one. My next lens will be a 28-80L.

So your saying skip the 28-80 and just get the 28-70L?Yes, Steven,
For travel, the 100-300 is the only long lense I would consider
because of its size and weight. Unfortunately, the 70-200 is very
heavy and
I found the F4 version to be soft. I had a 28-80L and I did not
like it...it was not all that sharp and very heavy. The 28-70,
however has amazing AF on my D60.
