Proud of this shot!

Gary,

I love this shot. You MUST submit this to some POTD sites. You specified two different cameras under the photo though. Which one did you use? The suspense is KILLING me, LOL. It's a bit amazing that the sky is almost the same as the lilies, but I have no problem whatsoever believing that this is, for the most part, right out of the camera. Beautiful. Congratulations on a great capture.

Regards, ;)

I took this in front of my house on the evening of July 6th. I
printed an 8x10 borderless on photo glossy paper and brought it to
work. Everyone I've shown it to makes the comment that it doesn't
look real.

Honestly, I haven't edited this photo with the exception of a
slight crop and a resize.

I looked at your picture again and it is really good. The only thing I don't understand (I don't know a lot anyway) is why there are artifacts around the flowers, almost like an unsharp mask and there are none around the clouds. Could the in processing in the camera have caused this?????which camera did you use??
Thanks

It's one thing to see a sunset like that, it's quite another to get it with a camera. What filters if any did you use? Like the use of flash to fill. That really made the shot.

Thanks so much for your comments. The camera I use is the Oly C-3020. The Epson is the printer I use. I am very pleased with both....

I see what you mean and I'm hoping others with more experience can share some ideas on how this happened. The camera I used is an Oly C-3020 in Program mode with flash forced on.

Thanks for the kudos, I really appreciate the compliments from this group. I've been following the forum for a couple of months and only recently jumped in to contribute. I used my Oly C-3020 in Program mode with only a UV filter on. Flash was used. I'm hoping I can get another sunset like this again but happens rarely here. Neighbors probably think I'm strange if they happened to spot me lying on by belly in the grass shooting upward to get that shot :)

Fantastic shot. I am NOT one of the experts but I think the noise around the flowers is just jpeg artifacts at the sharp color boundaries. You won't get it in the smooth color changes in the clouds.

Gary, that's what I'd call an "Oh... My... God!" shot. That's one of THE best shots I've seen in a while. Keep up the great work.

I suspect it is the purple fringe effect on the white daisys but it has blended with the orange sky to give a brown fringe. Strangely I like it and I don't think it detracts from the picture. It actually hightens the effect of the sharp flowers against the soft focus sky.

A fantastic shot and I would not be concerned about technical quibbles.
