Got rid of Norton Internet Security - YES!

I seem to remember reading some reviews recently that suggested that
Norton had FINALLY cleaned up their act a little and that their
latest version. See for instance:

Interesting.
I know that this topic is dissing NIS, but I would be interested to
hear if anyone has had experience with their latest version.
Well, I don't mean to diss it. If it works for someone then that's good. But I personally got exasperated enough to rid myself of it forever.

However, I too would like to hear from users whether NIS 2009 really is slimmer and faster.

Manhy people recommend the AVG. Do you have the dree or the pro version?

What do you use for a firewall?

Same here too. It runs better then before. Have AVG now and will stay
with it. JOHN

I thought everyone knew by now not to touch anything symantec with a
100 foot pole.
Not necessarily...it runs on my quad core CPU and I don't even notice. Sorry to say, code bloat isn't going away anytime soon...all you can do is try to beat it into submission with technology.

And just to be clear, NO antivirus program will protect
you from everything if you're not proactive about how you conduct
yourself.
I'm with you 100% there - I couldn't believe that they'd fallen for those scam popups saying they were infected and needed product x ... y ... z to clean their system. Indeed, I was quite liberal with my criticism and went overboard emphasising my disbelief!

The more I know, the more I know I don't know ...

I have the free version. I am very happy with it, does not mess me up with slowdowns . I use another freebee called IOBIT to clean out some files, registry etc... Give it a try and you hopefully will be satisfied too. John
