After all the gripes and complaints about Sigma lenses, I'm creating a thread for those of us who like and use our Sigma's. This is me using my 17-70mm 2.8-4.5 at what it does best, taking pictures!

My wife made these bandana's for our dogs for Halloween (yeah, we need to have some real kids) and so I had some fun with them. We have three dogs, but one is scared to death of cameras so he is missing today. My wife and I will see if both of us together can get some pics of him tomorrow.

If you are highly observant, you can see a progression in these pictures as well :).

And here is an old picture of my other fur baby who wouldn't stay still for the picture. This was done with my 24-70mm EX before I sold it to fund my 17-70mm purchase.

I've enjoyed using 66% of my Sigma lenses... guess that puts me in the "like" column. I think a lens purchase can be hit or miss, no matter which company builds it. I like to think, and reading the forums pretty much confirms, that there are far more hits all across the brands.

Hehe... from "yay picture time!" to " sigh are you done yet? 'Cuz we are..."

Take any advice given on a forum with a grain a salt. (that includes mine). Nobody is
perfect, though many claim to be.

I have several Sigma lenses and quite happy with them. Not that I never had a problem but they are more due to misuse. I broke the AF of my 70-300 APO once by forcing the focusing ring not remembering that it was in AF mode. Sigma repaired it and at the same time upgraded the chip free.

I've just selected a few random 150mm shots I have to hand. Since about 1982 I've owned about 15-20 Sigma lenses and not had any problems with them. They've taken good photographs and no matter what lens I had used I doubt the photographs would have been any better.

A few months ago I took basically the same photograph with the Sigma 150mm and the Canon MP-E 65mm lens (which is my favourite lens, so I am no fanboy of anything). It wasn't intended as a test or comparison, but because the 2 images registered so closely and were both taken at 1:1 I posted a thread with 100% crops. It is interesting to see how closely matched these lenses are. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1029&message=28930620
