50D prices

The going online price for the 50D body seems to be $1400 but there are a couple of outliers at much lower prices. FotoConnection.com lists it for $1100 and Broadway Photo for $1013. I should probably assume these are gray market.

The one absurd price ($879) is 1wayPhoto, which appears to be a well-known
bait-and-switch operation being investigated by tne NY Attorney General. Their
reputation on resellerratings.com is 0.75 out of 10

I did find one site, us1photo, listing both import and USA warranty versions at $1329 and $1344 respectively. Their consumer rating is also reasonable (7.5/10).
Anybody have experience with us1photo?

You should assume they are also known bait and switch companies (I know Broadway Photo is and I think FotoConnection is as well). Check http://www.resellerratings.com to see how they rate.

this had been said many times but if you go to Ebay through Microsoft Live.com you will get a 30% (max $200 per transaction) rebate through microsoft if you pay for your purchase with paypal. If you look through the 50D listing you will find several legit Canon USA dealers offering 28-135 kits, 18-200 kits, and bodies at list or just below. With the $200 rebate from Microsoft you then have a good deal.

But you still have to pay the full price at checkout using this method. I'd be curious to know how long it takes to actually receive the rebate back.

After 60 days the money gets deposited to your paypal account.

Or sent to you directly in a check to your home. Microsoft live.com is controlling the transaction and even gives you an online countdown clock showing how many days you have until the money is available. I was a doubter but it really works quite well.
