Does this forum attract sick people ?

no problem :)

better to do than rag on each other..
Good point. Next time I read a post like the one from BillyBoy02
I'll just ignore it (or at least I'll try).

WHAT DO YOU MEAN SICK PEOPLE!!!!???? I'm not sick. Just because I
collect dead road kill and the arms off dolls doesn't mean that I'm
sick, does it!??? (scratching my scalp violently). You're the sick
one. If I wasn't so afraid of going outside and open spaces, I'd
kick your butt!

'cough'...

Oh, to answer your question. Yes. We are all sick. Most of us
anyways in some way.

I’m not sure if you were really looking for an answer to your question. There is a book called “Ethics for the New Millennium” by the Dalai Lama- I think…

He was struck by his impression that people living in materially developed countries are in some ways less happy and suffer more internally then those in poorer countries. For me, it answered the question that you posed here.

Good luck,
Rob
I'm from a blue collar area (Steel making etc no non-sense hard
working people, some call it fly over country) and I can't believe
what anxieties are expressed on a regular basis here. From SDS to
using your camera in hot weather to RichO talking about something I
can't make heads or tails of with "The Sun, The Moon and YOU" (I
guess he's from Texas but I would have guessed San Francisco :-)
Before coming to this forum I thought I had a high anxiety level
but a lot of you are over the edge. Does Photography attract these
kinds of people ? or is it the state of the country at large,if it
is this coutry is in trouble......

Hi Rob,
Interesting response.

I have found that cities of soul sucking concrete create a yearning to search more for the "purpose" of life....whereas those who live more naturally wonder why others have not understood the purpose yet.

Perhaps we need more trees and parks in the cities and either build underground or on pillars of salt above the ground..eh?

:)

Actually its good to dream.I don't think we will ever get to be where the world should be because when one interest wins, another unfortunately loses. In the US , the strong survives and the strong is energy, and politicians .followed by religion, newmedia, and entertainment industry .What should be is often countered at the expense of salesman -politicians , who can say virtually anything to a people (us) who were brought up on church and people who look convincing on tv ,namely good looks,or strong type people. we will believe anything if its said from someone who they think looks convincing.I like George Bush, but hate his environmental policies which makes going out to take digitals often a dangerous proposition. My take on life, is clean air, good families, respect for differences, exercise and good food, and schools. But then we would have to become more spiritual. Ok about the slut part, had to say it one time.lol

George:

I've been trying to ignore this thread, but finally succumbed to curiosity.

After reading this far I find what I assume is a reference to me and the tag line that I've been using for a while; I recently changed to one I like better, but no matter. If my assumption is wrong, then straighten me out.

Understand something about the comment in the tag line: the mis-pronunciation of the word "nuclear" (as well as "realtor") is an all-to-common habit often evinced by news persons and even "experts" in nuclear related topics. This habit has Nothing-whatsoever-to-do with a Texas accent! This habit just happens to be one of my "pet peeves" and I'm certainly not alone in wincing whenever I hear anyone, let alone someone in an important posiition, use this mis-pronunciation.

I'm quite positive, by the way, that it has nothing to do with a Texas accent; I am a Texas native and have lived "no place else" for lo these many years.

As to politics, you do me a disservice by assuming that the tag line (which you apparently misunderstood) somehow is indicative of my political bent. I bet you'd find that we're on the same page.

It doesn't matter who says it, or where they're from....there's still no "Q" in nuclear. (and no "it" in "realtor")

Anyway... lets go take some pictures!

That is funny stuff! Thank you BAH for this phrase:
(scratching my scalp violently).

BillyBoy02: BAH's post is purely satire, its funny as heck, lighten up!

His post is "self-deprecating humor" its not aimed at you, its just sarcastic, in rference to the thread as far as I can tell.

Poor pronunciation impacts people's perception of you.

And yes, I know what I just did up there -- one of my peeves is people using "impact" as a verb.

Thanks, Inigo, I admit I have (had) other grammatical peeves, but I found I could get carried away. To keep my sanity, I've decided to choose a couple of particular nits at which I will pick, and let the others not bother me quite so much. As an example, I decided that I will now almost never get somewhat irate about split infinitives!

My favorite line from a movie: Bette Davis in Family Plot: Young man, ending a sentence in a preposition is a grammatical mis-step up with which we will not put!

Isn't realtor a real word? I always assumed it was the title of a real estate agent. And what's a split infinitive?
