My USB cable died when lightning ran in on the computer it was connected to. I called Minolta and they said the part number is USB-100, but they do not sell them themselves. I had to contact a dealer.

Well, JandR Computer World does not have them. Neither does Best Buy. Does anyone know who I can order this item from?

Usually your camera dealer can order the part even if it isn't in stock. May take a few days but it is worth asking. Contact the dealer where you bought it.

That's what Mr. Minolta said too. I had already called JandR and they could not provide it for me.

Paul, What John was referring to is a compact flash card reader. It is a device separate from the camera. You take your memory card out of the camera and upload the pictures to you computer that way. Some of the readers are also faster than the camera.

many camera or small devices are using this same usb cable, so try Radio Shack, something like that. It should not be that difficult to find in USA, but I have never been in your State, so I don't know.

Mmm, are you quite certain it was the cable that was destroyed by lightning?

A USB cable is probably the least sensitive and sophisticated thing connected to your computer, not to mention the computer itself, and the least likely thing to break.

I don't think lighening will kill your USB cable, either yourUSB port on your computer or camera output is damaged or both, if you have the camera was plug into the copmuter while the lightening------ too sad!!!

There are two reasons not to buy a card reader. One is insurance. My friends insurance company will expect me to get the replacement part. If the replacement is $15 and the card reader is $30, they are not going to pay anything if I do not get the same thing that was damaged.

The second is the warranty on the camera. The guy at Minolta explained to me that the warranty is voided if I plug in a cable which is not distributed by Minotla. Of course they are the same or very nearly the same to everybody else. But it is Minolta who decides the conditions of the warranty.
