Posted a few pictures taken this morning. Everything set to auto,
ISO 100. All are straight from the camera...no post-editing.
Checked out emilysammyondunes.jpg... viewing original-size pics is quite a pain with 56k, so haven't checked more yet. But at least this image looks great! Very detailed, nice colors, and looks quite sharp to my untrained eye. In all, looking good :)

Very nice, Cathy. I love the one of the three kids walking. Are
any of the shots taken at full zoom? The macro is good too. I'm
impressed, seeing these have no editing done. Keep posting
more!!!! K.
Karen...to tell the truth, I don't think any of them were taken at full zoom. I'll post more tonight. Glad you like them. Have to say, I love the camera. Cathy

I'm so impressed with this camera. I bought and returned the 5000. Just couldn't get it right! But, I've never had a digital camera (and, I've had lots of them) that performed so well right out of the box. I can't wait to experiment a little. But, your S30 is a wonderful little camera, also. C

Yeah, I love my S30... but as is obvious enough, it lacks the macro of the Coolpix cameras, as well as the big zoom of the CP5700, both features I want. Still, I'm keeping my S30 too. I'm just selling it to my younger brother, to get money for the CP5700 (provided I don't quit my summer job, which is one of the suckiest ones ever, and I'm there for the fourth summer in a row! Drives me mad. If I quit, won't get enough money, since I've spent lots of money on comp parts and stuff like that) and then gonna buy it back some day. But I can still use it in the meanwhile since he doesn't have much use for it :)

How do you like them compared to the 7i? I think your kids should buy all your cameras for you...those grandkids are great subjects-you almost HAVE to have more cameras with those subjects!

Cathy,

I enjoyed the shots very much. I was particularly impressed with the saturation of the reds & the good skin tones on the girls. The lens seems pretty sharp also. Keep posting for us. Thanks

These pictures are GREAT. SMooth skin tones and excellent colors. The pictures are very sharp. I believe Nikon has a BIG winner here. I can't wait till mine getsw here. I hate to say it but the D1x will be spending more time in the closet!

Keep the pictures comming.

Oh, Greg, that's just what I was thinking about my D1X. Thanks for the complement. C

I'm asking because I just ordered one as a convenience camera, as I wait for some things to develop in the high-end market.

The X photos in the other albums look better than I would have expected, especially the close-ups.

Cathy,

The shots look good- they're not digital looking at all- but just very clean and clear, reasonably sharp and the stairs shot and the shots with white clothing demonstrates plenty of dynamic range.

This camera is starting to look like a very good score for the money. I'm looking forward to getting mine.
