350D and new 1000D users, please.

Maybe hard to understand, but... newsflash: the world is bigger then
the US of A.

Over here in the Netherlands (that's a country), the 1000D(XS) is
about 375 euros, whereas the 450D(XSi) is about 475 euros. That's a
25% premium...
Great. So the OP, who is in the US, can buy a ticket to the Netherlands (the country), and buy his camera there.

Sigh. If people say it's not smart to get a 450D instead of a 1000D (because the prices are (almost) equal) it makes sense to state that that recommendation is based on that price thing. Prices in other parts of the world are completely different so there you should make the tradeoff if the extra features of the 450D weigh up against the price.

It seems so hard for US-folks to understand the world is a little bigger then the USA. Let's hope McSame will not be elected....

I got my XS because it fit my budget, it was and still is over $100us cheaper here (HK), it feels good in my hands and low end or not it still knocks spots off the 4mp Olympus P&S I was using.

I'm sure some of the high spec bits on the XSi will help some people take "better" pictures, but if you're going to spec chase you'd better have deep pockets.

All those with the XSi dissin the XS... Why don't you get a "real" camera like the 50D and stop playing with us poor low spec users! I'm sure those extra bits would make your snaps just jolly super spiffing! I'm quite sure it's not the size of your number, but what you do with it that counts. You might even find more XS/1000D owners start posting and as with all intertubez forums everybody brings something to the table, whatever that maybe.

Also all joking aside perhaps the OP should just get a Mk1 on his credit card, write that off against his mortgage and have his gooberment pay for it.

Now that really would be some economic XS.

Everybody knows that prices vary around the world, but the expectation is that at least the ratio is the same. You cannot blame somebody for not knowing that, and mocking him does not make you look smarter.

That is completely irrelevant comment and quite stupid, BTW.

No need of sarcasm. The point was that the extra $100 or so is well worth it. If that is a real problem for you - fine, the 1000D is still a good camera.
