D40/tokina 11-16

I am using it on a d40... tons of fun... what do you want to know?

Wow an expensive lens than the Sigma 10-20, hope you got better IQ
It's not that much more than the Sigma 10-20, and it has constant f/2.8. Of course, the Sigma has more range. All of the ultra-wides for DX are about compromises. I chose the middle ground and got the Tokina 12-24 f/4. :)

Ken Rockwell reviews it on his sight - gives it a decent rating if I recall . The Tokina is very well built and has a push pull zoom range . It really should be considered a 11mm fixed lens as the range of 11 - 16 isn't that great . If I had one I would leave it at 11 or 12mm and f11 all the time for outdoor scenics and architecture shots .

Yes, it's MF only, but with wide it's not really a big deal, since depth of field is pretty big. I'll try to have some photos up soon.

pics here:

i don't think i was trying too hard for perfect focus, just fyi:

full res off my d40, auto sharpening
plenty sharp, imo

fyi it's not push-pull, regular two-ring design, one for zoom, one for focus. but yeah almost fixed focal length.
