--The DP review erroneously lists the GPS connector as a MC-DC1.

I purchased a remote shutter trigger with this connector and it does not fit. The camera connector is larger. Fortunately the connectors would not mate so no damage was done.

Not only am I out $33 but the remote capability was a major part of my decision to buy the D90.

Shabby reporting DP!!

Anyone know of a remote trigger that will work with the D90?

Yes,

I don't have a D90, I downloaded D90 PDF Users Manual, on page 271

Remote cord: MC-DC2 (available separately)

Bad news is it seems NO ONE has this in stock yet, based on a quick search of the net.

Here is minimal data on the MC-DC2

I'm really sorry to hear that we've made this mistake, especially given the result.

The preview should have said MC-DC2, as stated on page 241 of the US manual.

I'll make sure the page is corrected as soon as I get into the office tomorrow.

You should never depend on any single source to tell you all you need when making a big purchase. Had you look on the Manufactures website you would have known better facts. Please dont blame DPreview for you not doing your own research. A quick look at the Nikon website would have told you all you needed to know and purchase.

From the DPReview preview:

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/page5.asp
"the new MC-DC2 Remote cord (it would appear that the D90 isn't
compatible with the D80's MC-DC1 remote cord)

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/page2.asp
Optional Accessories Remote Cord MC-DC2

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/page3.asp
There is a photo of the "MC-DC2 remote cord"

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikond90/page6.asp
On this page it's wrong: "At the bottom behind a separate cover is the
MC-DC1 remote cord connector."

Give them a break - they got it right 3 out of 4 times :-)
Of course, it would have been prudent to check the manual for the proper
accessories, rather than a web site.

A photograph is more than a bunch of pixels

As an "engineering manager", I would have thought a more thorough look into the component necessary for this task. ie. ,like the user manual, especially since the remote operation was of primary importance.

Please dont blame DPreview for you not doing your own research.
Your condescension is out of line.
He wasn't blaming them... he was simply stating they were wrong.

Which they were...

...and admitted so.

--I did the research before buying the D90 so I did not have the benefit of a manual.

Having had the S2, D70, D2x, D40x and D300, I didn't feel the need to read the manual once I had it, since Nikon cameras are very similar in operation. Most likely I still won't read it completely but only refer to it from time to time. Also, I don't read the previews or reviews word for word for the very same reason. Much of the data is irrelevant to me, so why waste my time. I have a life.

I'm not blaming DP for my mistake, but as a professional publication they should be held to a higher standard then an advanced amateur photographer engineering manager. My job is not doing technical research. I am the liaison between upper management and a group of engineers, directing their activities (for those who don't know what managers do). Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the suggestions on the cable release and I apologize for not being more specific. When I said remote trigger I meant wireless.

Thank you all for your input but once again, does anyone know of a wireless trigger that will work with the D90..

I heard someone at Wolf Camera asking about one of these with the salesperson saying they "hope to get them in before Christmas, as some locations". Otherwise, it's online.

I have to say something and I know it sounds insulting (but not meant to be). I read several popular U.K. based digital camera magazines, and while I love their style of reporting as well as their "nothing held back" comments if a camera is a dud, I will say that I see far more typos in them than any mags from anywhere else. I can expect in each issue of each magazine, to find at least a half-dozen typos, words left out completely mid-sentence, and even incorrect camera names under photos of other maker's models, etc etc.

Typo errors seem to be an epidemic in the U.K. Maybe they're slipping a little something "extra" in the tea when they write this stuff. ;-)

As someone else said, though. Don't reply on review sites (or magazines) for parts info. Use the manufacturer's site ONLY.

Unhelpful and prigish as usual. I bet you are a "nothing" when off line.
