Hi Bert and thanks for the too nice comments. I am very happy that my galleries are enjoying forum users - That encourages me to get more and more pictures ;-)
I have posted just one other photo at full size:
http://www.pbase.com/image/1762736
The full size picture of my daughter was posted because someone asked me (don´t remember who) to post a full size pic so that he/she could check for G2 sharpness (I have better samples). As you have already checked, G2 does well on that.
I don´t upload full size pics because they are too big for web display and waist valuable space at pbase.com, but if you want to check anyone more, please ask and I will do it.
I have a very simple and straight workflow.
Shooting and conversion:
-Shoot everything raw for more flexible post-processing and no compromise quality
-Convert using BreezeBrowser using standard settings (as shot) to 95% JPG
Photoshop postprocessing (if want to post to Web):
-Make some level/contrast adjustments (not always)
-Resize for 800x600 bicubic
-Aply some USM. For 800x600 pics I use Amount=65-75%, radius=0.6 and Threshold=2
-Save JPEG quality 7-8
some notes:
Raw is good: Some times, 16bit Tiff conversion will save you a pic because of the "extra" dynamic range; play with it!
Try linear convertion: There are some very good efforts from Colin Walker (
http://www.pbase.com/colinwalker/g2 ), Zoran Zivotic (
http://zivotic.com/g2/linear ) and others, to get you better results than Canon does. It will take you some time on postprocessing, but for "that picture" it worths the pain and results can be stunning!
Regards,
Paulo,
Wonderful shots! I was wondering if you have any other full size
shots or gallery. I did find the one of you daughter and it is
truly amazing. Do you mostly resize down and edit before posting.
Your pictures are amazing both from a technical and creative
prespective. What is your work flow?
Thanks from Sophia's dad(my daughter is Shophia)
