Hey David,
I have been trying out Bibble 3.0a for a few days and I like it, but have had a bunch of problems with it trapping or just locking up. For example, the batch convert from NEF to Jpeg proof option does not work at all, just sits there.
Since I have not used the previous versions, I wanted to find out how reliable BIbble has been in the past? Are you using 3.0?

I'm replying to my own post because I just downloaded the lasted
version of Nikon View 5.1xx and gave it a try.
My machine, an 8600 with a 450 Mhz G4 upgrade is marginally slower
then an equivalent G4 in an unmodiffied computer. Using Mac
Bibble, which is definitely NOT optimised for the Mac, it takes one
minute to process an image without modifying it.
Using Nikon View the same image took 2 minutes to process.
The editing options are fewer and less refined. Bibble allows the
option of "Click White." Meaning that you click on something in the
image you KNOW is white and that becomes the White Balence.
Otherwise you have the options already available in the camera.
Bibble also allows much more control over tone and sharpening.
Finally Bibble has the delightful option, at least for the D1x of
choosing a different form of interpolation. What this means is that
the natural resolution of the D1x is, roughly 4000 x 1300. The
camera will then output the image as a 3000 x 2000 image. The image
is internally interpolated Down on the horizontal and up on the
vertical. Bibble allows this, but it also gives the option of
leaving the horizontal output at 4000 but interpolates the vertical
to 2600. I find that this produces a very sleightly better image.

Hi MF, Toralf
I'm not familiar with Nikon View 5 or Nikon Capture. I use Bibble.
Bibble give many more options then the ones you display for Nikon V
5. I've assumed from reading other posts that Nikon Capture give as
many options or more then Bibble.
If the only options of Nikon View are the ones shown then go out
and get Bibble 'cause your missing alot.
