ok this might be a stupid question, but I am quite curious and would of course like not to do the wrong thing.

So here I have new 300 f/2.8 L lens and I use it with a 1DsMIII camera, I also have a Lowepro Phototrekker AWII backpack. The lens with hood extended and body mounted fit inside the bag..sweeeet!! Now the stupid question, when carrying it on my back, is it better to have the camera on top or bottom inside the bag? I am not sure if the camera/lens weight could damage the hood mount if store with the rig in the bag with the camera on the top side.
Thanks in advance

Too bad the bags can't accommodate the lenses with the lens caps on. That's a huge drawback, as I like to use caps when packing my lenses.

Thanks for the answers guys!

What do you mean by this? Surely lens caps can always fit into bags!

Do you perhaps mean lens hoods? If so, they can usually be reversed and the lens put inside the bag with them on. If you have a long lens you can buy those plastic 'Corning Ware' caps to protect the front lens element when in the bag. I do this with my 500 f4.

e.g http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-1-2-Corning-Ware-French-White-Bowl-W-Plastic-Lid_W0QQitemZ360079014119QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360079014119&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

This isn't exactly what I mean but it is possible to buy the plastic lids alone and they fit on the end of my 500mm exactly.

I just mean that it's funny that in these images, all the lenses are pictured without lens caps - glass showing. I hope no one stores their lenses like that.
