Guess the Make & Model

That's a '41 Cadillac. I'm 74 years old so these old cars are the ones I grew up loving. We could even sit eyes shut at the corner and tell what make the cars were just by the sound of their engines as they went by. Buick Eights were easy because their solid lifters were so noisy. Ford V-8s rumbled sweetly. Nashes hissed.

Shercando got it - '41 Cadillac. Stv did a good job though, since there wasn't much to differentiate between '41 and '42 (once the US got into WW2 they didn't introduce new models for several years).

I didn't realise Buicks used solid lifters. Was that for performance (I know some people used them that way), or just a holdover from the pre-hydraulic days? My Dad's favourite car is still a '38 Buick Century, so named because they'd managed 100mph on their test tracks.

when there were driving around we used to make fun of them because the front and back of them looked the same. The interior was awsome on those. I always admired them. oh ya ... and the fender skirts uses to pack with ice. then you'd park it overnight and it would freeze to the wheel and just about rip the 1/4's off when you tried to drive it again...

Don't the weiners normally then put out the next offering?

Try this one : make and model & year range.

The ability to 'see' the shot, is far more important than the gear itself. (tag-line blatantly stolen from elsewhere)

Thx Barry, I know what the cars pictured were. They are announced as the class winners, I should made more of a connection to the fact that this weekend is our biggest custom car show of the year. And yes it is a 39 chevy I was writing my guess as Glenn was posting.
Sorry for confusion.

Rats, I was thinking DeLorean but didn't get a chance to post before you got it.

I was going to post the whole of this one but seeing the way this is going decided to crop it (it's from my P&S so IQ's not so hot):

(Oops, just had to delete the pic and reload, as it was still showing the whole car).
