Somebody trying to stir things up. Hit monger? Troll? Nikon PR? 13 year-old with bet?
Regardless, I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt here. Seriously, I've had CMOS sensors on my pro camcorders for over 2 years now. I've NEVER had a client or Director complain about rolling shutter effects in pans. NEVER.
NEVER.
With so many complaints about this circling the forum, I feel like there must be some sort of conspiracy backing it up. For 99% of all footage shot professionally, it is not an issue. And for that additional 1%, just rethink your composition. Avoid pans over horizonal subjects. Lord knows every cinematographer I know avoids this with film too. It's just ugly camera work.
