New hobby: making photo books.

I showed some of them to Olympus Norway and they asked me if I could make a small book with images taken only with Olympus equipment. I just received it from Blurb, and it looks good. That company is doing a good job.

Olympus just want it lying around in their office for people to look at when they visit.

I have included images from some of my main topics, the island of Røst, cars, beach volleyball and Oslo.

Here is (a bad) photo of that book, including a few others I have made. Not earning any money, but having a great time. The book to the right is from my holiday trip to the north of Norway with my American friends.

Funny, how you would think with digital ... a digital frame would be the best way to show images.

But, what I found is (as you might have) ... the "Book" format as the most popular.

Thank you for sharing ... very, very nice books.

Kind of like the paperless office ... mine, still prints a ton of Laser print. lol

Please feel free to criticize, make suggestions, and edit any of my photos & re-post, to help show me 'the way'. * I am trying to Elevate the Level of my 'Snap Shots' :)

Love f2 Oly lens wide open ... 14-35mm f2, & a 50mm f2+1.4TC is my fav. combo on two 'IS' oly bodys.

Raymond,

May I ask what made you decide to print with Blurb. There are several other choices. Dave Beckerman of BeckermanPhoto.com has written extensively about his experiences.

I've yet to publish a book, but I am interested in people's experiences with the various choices of publisher available, especially in respect of print quality.

I'll go on in Norwegian as the rest only applies to a norwegian company

Hi Goffen,

I'm sure myphotobook is a German Company and I think they just have sites in different languages so I would be interested in what you thought of them (however, I'm not one of these people who get upset when people don't post in English)

I have certainly used them from the UK and I found them quite good value for money.

Well, I started out with Mac and iBook, but got books that had stripes from top to bottom in dark areas. However, they were very nice to work with, gave me the money back after they had seen one of the books.

I just happened to see Blurb, and I have been so satisfied with them that I have not tried any other.
I guess there are many around now, and many good ones.

I am so happy with Blurb that I don't take any chances of trying others. Men en venn av meg bruker noen her i Norge og hun er veldig fornøyd med det.

Den omtalte boka ble levert av UPS på døra en uke etter at jeg sendte den inn, ingen moms og toll.

Varierer etter hvilken sendemåte du velger.

They look excellent. I also think there is nothing better than a photobook to display photos. I did one of my honeymoon to Kenya and love looking through it time and again. Definitely value for money compared to printing out the photos separately and then literally pasting them back into an album. I'm thinking of putting together books by year of my favorite photos but with digital imaging I have enough to produce hundreds of books and then the cost soon adds up.

Does that company put their name on the inside of the back cover or anything? A friend of mine has started to do weddings and is looking for a good supplier of photobooks but doesn't want them branded.

I use Photoshop, but since I use Olympus, I don't have to much with the images, except straiten horizontal lines and crop.

During the two weeks I do beach volleyball and bring my Mac laptop, I have started using Lightroom.

Yes, they have their logo and name inside the book. I cannot see reason why one should not accept this, maybe others who see want to try making a book with the same company if the like the product.
