Hi folks:

Have a few questions here regarding this grip. To begin with, I've used the older OwnUser grips with much success on the likes of my E510 and E330. By success, I mean to say that the batteries lasted what seems like indefinitely - but on the negative size, these older grips were huge and didn't have the nicest looks possible.

So I invested in this new E51R grip for my E520. It most certainly is an improvement from the older grips - looks more streamed, that's for sure, and the batteries are easy to insert in the rear.

But my problem has been that if you put in 2 batteries in this grip - in less than a week, my batteries are completed drained - even when having the grip turned off. I don't understand it. This baby sucks the batteries dry....in what seems like just a short week.

Has anybody with this grip experienced this? I ordered it off of Ebay of course and the grip came from the UK.

Hey Ben,

I have had both the old model and the new one for my E-510 and yes this thing suck batteries dry, I think it has to do with the IR receiver, even turning that off does nothing to keep the batteries from discharging. I unplug the USB cord from the camera and that tends to help, but sometimes I am still left with dead batteries. I would also love to see if anyone has the solution to this.

This makes sense - now I have to email OwnUser to find out an address and the procedures for sending it back - which really sucks because now I have to pay shipping to Taiwain. Oh well, that's the problem you have when you buy from across the globe.

I have the same issue.

I received the grip two weeks ago, threw in a battery, took some pics, the next day the battery was empty...tried two other full batteries, did the same thing.

I've emailed them and they sent me a nice note to send it back and they will repair/replace within two days...bummer, I'm off to vacation in a week and was hoping to take this with me...oh well, I really love the grip, hope it gets fixed.

I contacted OwnUser about the problem and yes that a certain amount of these particular grips were sent out with faulty parts. I sent them an email and they replied below:
