What is your Favorite all time phot ?

I have posted this before, but haven't manged to 'supercede' it yet. Not a technically brilliant shot - not sharp etc, but got that 'moment'. The body language, the glint in the eye etc.....

ive posted this one before on this forum but not in this thread
but the more i look at this photo the more i really like it
more than my other photo of my goat (george)

i took this shot along the Mississippi River in Dubuque Iowa
i just set my k10d on a rock and used my IR remote
and got this stunning photo

to some they may not like it for the uneven horizon or its a bit soft to some ,
but for me and my skill level . I LOVE IT

Are you familiar with the work of my friend Freeman Patterson
Indeed I am - I shuttle between Sackville NB and Halifax NS, and have lived in this area most of my life, so it's kind of hard to miss him! ;) I was vaguely aware that he runs workshops in the region, but have never attended one - lack of time, funds, and self-confidence, I guess. Maybe I will one day...

I think this one is my fave (so far...) because I really thought hard about it, and mucked around with backdrops and the #$ #! flash and laboured over the B&W conversion, and actually came pretty close to what I had in mind.

DL, Tokina AT-X 90mm macro (funny how many of my faves are with this lens...)

Hmm. It kinda changes over time. At one point it was images that were hard for me to nail or family scenes. But lately this image has been my favourite. Don't know why. Nothing spectacular about the way I got it. It was made for a client and normally those subjects don't mean that much to me on a deeper level.

This, not because it's the technically or artistically best photo, but because it's such a beautiful and peaceful scene, the women and the children seem so happy. Shot from a shikara on a canal in Srinigar in Kashmir in 1982, with my Pentax MX and the M-135/3.5.

It makes me tremendously sad when I think of what these women in children had to go through in the years to come, when the terrorists of Afghanistan moved their activities to Kashmir. I hope Kashmir will be peaceful again, it's a beautiful country.

that is a very beautiful photo
in a disturbing way

its weird to see those children in the photo and to know that they are all older than me

me personally this photo makes me think of life and just how easy most of the world has it
so be thankful for what you have
we complain about our cameras
but at least we have running water that is clean

Thank you for that photo

I don't think their running water was too bad either (although I took care to only drink it in the form of "persian tea", a local favourite). The canal itself looks very dirty, and it was, but the famous Dal Lake it connects to is breathtakingly beautiful, with hundreds of small houseboat hotels. I just looked it up in Wikipedia and found out that it's now the worlds first lake with complete wlan coverage :-)

So there seems to be glimpses of hope, after all.

You're welcome. Some day, when I get to scan more of my Kashmir slides, I'll post some more.

Nice work Julie. I can relate to futzing around with the flash to get
what you want. Dang that just seems to be SUCH a chore for me!
It would help if I had the first clue what I was doing... ;) I just haven't had time to really learn how to use the thing. It's on my (very long) "thing to learn when I have more time" list. Dream on...

Hey D2M and the rest of the pentax bunch,

Great thread and great pictures... Makes PPG look normal!

Here's mine, although probably not up to standard, but still one of my favorites!

Kind regards,
