Viewing CRW Files in Irfanview

When I try to view Canon Raw Files with Irfanview I receive this message: Can't load CRW.DLL! Download Canon drivers from Canon's Homepage.

I've gone to the homepage but I'm not sure what to download or how to set it up.

Does anyone know how to set this up so I can view the files with Irfanview. I have Brezzer Browzer, but would still like to use Irfanview for certain functions.

Are you running IrfanView Version 3.70? THe previous version does NOT support Canon RAW format. Visit http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/english.htm for Version 3.70 ( - CURRENT VERSION - ) (Release date: 20.04.2002):
  • Creating of EXE/SCR files for presentations (in Slideshow dialog)
  • Support for MNG/JNG formats (PlugIn)
  • Support for BodyPaint 3D format (PlugIn)
  • Support for MrSID format (PlugIn)

Thanks James,

I uninstalled my version of irfanView. Downloaded the newest version along with the latest plugins and installed them. I still get the same error message along with: CRW_1219.CRW: CRW Decode Error.

I've gone to different sites and downloaded the files with the same result. I'm missing something here, but I can't figure it out.

Is anyone successfully useing the latest version of Ifanview (3.7) to view Canon raw CRW files on a PC? I use the older version Irfanview 3.61 for this with no problems, but cannot get the latest version to work. It always says "Can't Load CRW Plugin: CRW.DLL! " and then tells me to download Canon drivers from Canon's homepage. I have the Irfanview pluguns installed and can see the CRW.DLL file in the plugins folder...

Thanks James,

I have been using Ifanview sucessfully. I installed 3.7 and downloaded "all pluggins" and unzipped them into the Ifanview pluggin folder and it works great. Explain how you installed the pluggins.

I downloaded the Irfanview allplugins.exe file and ran it after installing Irfanview 3.7 - it said it installed all plugins successfuly, and I can see lots of plugin files including crw.dll in the Irfanview folder, but alas it still won't view my G2 CRW files. I've tried this on several PC's now without any luck... I was going to try getting and using the zipped version of the Irfanview plugins but the download site was waaaay to slow when last I tried it this past weekend.

I have had the same problem despite reinstalling Irfanview 3.7 and reinstalling the plug -ins. I am using Microsoft Windows ME. Could this be the problem?

Cecil,

I must admit that I am using a S30. I am still new with this camera, but with the help of this great forum, I am understanding that maybe G2 raw files are different than S30. I am also understanding that G1 are different than G2. Maybe someone can clear this up for me if I am wrong. I would email the creator.
