no bottons, or information....looks to bland
how big is the screen 2.0?
better not make a small screen on a 37mp camera
photogs will be livid!!
make it 3.5 or 4.0 if its, gonna look so plain and spacy back there.

and whats the fps?
how fast is the 35mm lense?

we need more info leica

-Leica finally goes beyond 35mm format!

-At 20,000 euro for a body and probably another 10,000 euro for a lens, how many pros are buying it?

-Does Leica have a good enough overall package to fight the Hassy or Phase One in the market?

-Leica also need to break into the rental market. You can rent a Hassy in many major cities all over the world. Leica, almost nothing. Very important to let the pros try out this camera.

-Is this the death of the R line? :( May be they can be used on the S body with 1x 35mm FOV LOL

agree

it seems Leica has once again become the most desirable camera, and they have really upped the stakes. Not just traditionalist legendary quality, but ground breaking once again.

I would say it would be bigger than a d3, but smaller than a mamiya zd. The design is simple and elegant. looks like it would be nice to use, and if that sensor delivers, the image quality will be amazing.

Now wait for everyone to complain about it.
The only complaint I can think of is that I will not be able to afford it.

What next? maybe some really desirable stuff in micro 4/3?

eu20,000 is unbelieveably cheap!

hope the high iso could compare with canon 40d
low iso could go to iso12 or iso25

Best Lens:za 135 1.8 (lens for dimlight portrait, shutter speed can be very low to brighten background with sony A700)

hoping: Canon 135 f1.8/1.6 IS USM + Guide Number 80, New Handle Mount Flash

This is a welcome development from Leica.

The new Leica heralds the start of a 'convergence' which will place Digital Medium Format Sensors and 'New' MF Lenses at the top end of DSLR development at reasonable prices.

I fully expect Nikon and Canon to enter this market and it is probable that MF could be very quickly re-defined with 'brand names' fighting to define a new standard in portable and fast MF Digital SLR Cameras.

If the need for a higher resolving IQ with high dynamic range demands new digital camera technology then MF camera specifications will rise and the price will fall!

We may find that a full frame 35mm sensor in a 450D type body (or smaller body) will be the base 35mm DSLR standard within 3 years.

Who knows, within 3 years a MF top end Digital SLR body could be selling at £5,000?

A lens with a built in shutter will not come cheap.

Perhaps there will be two versions of each lens, one with shutter built in, and not.

Some high end photographic studios will look at a camera like this very closely .

PS, at least Leica have left out video capabilities (lol).

Hmm m perhaps i should not say this to loudly .

Never been able to buy a Leica before, well frankly that continues even today but it doesn't stop me getting stomach butterflies at the name. Stupid? Perhaps but a school boy dream of owning a Leica slr has never left me.

An earlier post mentioned the viewing screen and I agree, for a camera of this worth, the screen really should be larger than the one found on say a Nikon D200, perhaps even a D3; depends on the space they have.

As for the sensor - I read that larger photosites create less noise and that CCD sensors are better that CMOS (ala D3, D700 etc) but wonder how this significantly larger sensor will be able to deal with high iso. If it's a true studio camera then the question becomes meaningless.

Leica...I still long for a Leica.

20 000 for body only , they can keep it, for that price (a bit more) you get an Hasselblad MF

had a short chat with a Leica-guy on Photokina. I asked him about a low-pass filter and he replied that no low-pass filter is used and that they rely on phase-one's moiree-surpress filter. He also stated the 98% of all pictures dont have moire-probs anyway. Btw the senser comes from Kodak.

nowhere - now here

I used to use a Kodak SLRn ff 14mp and no AA filter.

And that was a camera years ahead of its time.

It says "High resolution 3" display - The S2's 3" display has a resolution of 460.000 pixels" on Leica's website.

It is a beautiful work of art but there are no external controls. Having to menu surf to change aperture on a Leica seems weird to me.

and what about max exposure time , I was also in Photokina but I forgot to ask , is it 32 seconds maximum ? or a bulb mode ?

Look at the close ups of the shutter speed dial here.

Hello,

Found more info here, also about the use of the A mode.
http://www.dfarkas.blogspot.com/

And this about the Iso range:

The ISO range will start at 100 and go to either 1600 or 3200. The high ISO performance is supposed to be superior to any other MFD system.

With very kind regards,

Dirk
