Anyone using 17-35mm F2.8 lens on D1X? Need a quality wide angled lens, but need also to see some sample photos before deciding to own one.

I have just bought this lens to use on my D1X. It is superb- fast sharp and crystal clear. I have low res images posted on a trial page at http://www.lorraineandtrevor.co.uk They are not designed to be good photos but they give some idea of what to expect.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the samples. Yes, it's very sharp. One more question, is those shot taken with any filter on the lens?

Wow, were these the actual colors ? Amazing, it almost looks like a painting.
Great shot.

And I second (or third) the opinion..have this lens for 3 days now, did alot of 'testing' and it's one great piece of glass....

You ask about two of the FINEST LENSES EVER MADE... you will not find better.

Thomas,

Thanks, I just used NC2 for NEF conversion, USM and sharpening then to PS where I ran auto level and resize, that's it.

It was shot this spring near Dryburgh, Scotland on a colorful day with near perfect light.

I'm not able to post my own pics yet, but take my word for it on the 17-35mm. It's well worth your while and $$ and then some. You won't regret it. Go for it!!

Allow me to second that and amment it slightly:

Hi,

You guys are absolutly right on the spot. The AFS 80-200mm F2.8 is a remarkable piece of glass. Great result, even shot taken with speedlight.
Weight is a down side, D1X + Lens + Speedlight + EN-EL4(battery)=4kg!

Thanks

Peter

only a UV filter - I often use an ND grad but i don't think it was on for those.
