Hi,

I just recieved my S602...

It performes good but...

I wasn't expecting that it doesn't have zoom neither auto focus while recording movies...

Why is that? Other cams have this function why they remove it?

Is the high resolution recording so cpu intensive that isn't possible to activate auto focus and optical zoom ??? weirth

This question keeps popping up. I have read here that the zoom is disabled so as not to record the sound of the zoom on the movie. Some people think this is good, some don't.

Pretty stupid from fuji...

If we don't want to record the sound of the zoom,
we simply don't touch it... why to remove at all?

Why not to AF?

Fuji get a good quality in one hand but on the other
they remove this usefull features...
doesn't make any sense to me.

You´ve got a valid point there.... However I bet that if you could zoom, you and others would be complaining time and again that the zoom isn´t useable at all because how horribly loud the zoom sound would be in the recording!

Can´t comment on the AF but I read elsewhere that AF is functional during recording... seems like he was wrong

Easily solved with a menu option to turn off sound.

I've just verified that there is no autofocus when the movie is being recorded. If you shoot at wide angle and the scene is bright, the depth of field is very large and so things will seem focused at a big range of distances, esp. since the resolution is only 640x480.

Just like the 6900 which had no optical zoom or autofocus in movie mode either. As a matter of fact, most digicams share these limitations in movie mode (Sanyo's VPC-AZ1 is an exception).

But why is that?

Sorry but removing zoom just because the noise it can cause seems to me a very bad choice! Some sound processing after the movie is in pc can easylly solve this.

One of the biggest features for me in S602 was the movie quality, but after I get mine I has very disponted when I saw that I was unable to zoom in or out. I owned a Fuji 4900 Z, some time ago, and it was able to zoom in movie mode.

I'm a very disapoted owner about movie feature... there wasn't enough 6900 user's complaining about this fault for fuji reintroduce movie zoom in S602?

Autofocus is not such a big problem for me ... like the basic zoom function...
