I was informed today that I was high enough on the list to buy my D100 today. (Warehouse express £1800). As I did not take the telephone call I had time to think and rang another supplier that had me on their list. I was told that although they will not receive their shipment from Nikon until next week, they were also told that by the end of July there should be no back order problem as with the D60 and the D100 should be readily available. As the 2nd company are £100 cheaper and give an extra years warranty I decided to wait another week. (I was told that there is an excellent chance of me getting one next week). I hope that I have done the right thing.

I have spoken to two well known retailers in the north west of England today. I have been on their lists for some weeks. Both advise me that they have no firm delivery date, from Nikon, for the D100 and do not really expect to receive stock for about two weeks.

They actually have the D100's, they are waiting on the delivery of the waterproof housing you'll need....

No problem, the D100 I am testing went through a heavy shower today. It survived...

Can you clarify this...
They actually have the D100's, they are waiting on the delivery of
the waterproof housing you'll need....
What exactly are you referring to ? Do you mean the plastic screen for the monitor? I assumed this was simply to protect the screen from scratches.
( Or is this simply a reference to our wonderful weather. )

I agree about being patient hard though it can be. I have seen two places offering the D100 for £1699.99 with a two-year warranty. I think you can extend it to three years for another £50. How Jessops hopes to sell for £1900 I do not know.

Louis - you got it! BTW - I have travelled all around the UK during my 20+ years working and always enjoyed the places and people I got to see and meet. Hope you guys get your D100's soon and post some good pics.

Jessops promise to price match.

I got my E-10 a year ago for £1200 instead of £1400 against DigitalDepot. No problem and well handled by Strand branch. They first checked with HQ, I think.

I seem to remember that the competititor had to have stock for immediate sale and over the counter, ie not mail order.
