Timing of 5D...

This is the longest I remember waiting for details about a new camera from Canon. Usuallly, I hear the announcement with full specs, and the camera begins shipping two weeks from then. Perhaps, this camera really isn't that close to release... Canon just wants us to wait a few weeks before diving in on the Nikon D90.

Anyway, I've already transferred $3,000 into my checking account. ).

Yes, this is truly extraordinaire. They are waiting to the last minute to disclose.

Canon must be scared. Sony is a powerhouse. Nikon was relegated to second-no-one-remembers, but they are back with a succesful vengeance.

I think this a an issue of pricing. Pricing right is very important more then ever.

If Canon comes with 5D2 with 21-24 mp it will be priced around $3,600 usd. 16-18 mp means $2,800 usd. IMHO, either will be a total blast.

Why such a big price difference for a difference in resolution? I would pay more for a full-frame 8 megpixel version. ).

I think you'll see 21-24 at

$1899 for 16mp.

$2600 for 21mp.
