...for miles along that California Coast...

Albert, this is a great set of photos. As usual, my favorite will be
the last one which is the sunset. I also like very much the tree with
the sea as the background.

Hi Chang, good to hear from you again. That tree shot I took from the patio of a little restaurant where we stopped to eat.

Thank you for your comments.

Great series! You would almost think that you were in another
country. No wonder Clint Eastwood lives out that way.

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Clint ;-), I'm a huge fan of his. I did see a street called Mal Paso Road there in Carmel. Mal Paso is the name of his production company. I can only imagine what his home looks like.

Hi Albert,

I keep talking about driving hwy1, but these are putting me over the edge! I gotta get there.

You have a beautiful series. Most of these look like paintings. Great composition! they would look great blown up and hanging on a wall!

just a great sense of the atmosphere in that one...

these are all tremendous....

thanks for posting....

I am super happy with my D40 and when I read all the reviews of the new Nikons being released, I keep coming back to the idea that maybe I would just like to have a few more mpx and wonder if I can still find a D40x body....

cheers

Hi Alex, thank you for your comments. It was a great trip. I will
have to do it again soon. I owe a special thanks to you, as you have
greatly influenced my photography (the good points about it anyway
;-).
Thanks a lot Albert. I feel honoured by your words, and very happy if I ever helped even just one person to enjoy photography as much as I do :-)
Regards Alex

I like all of them, as I tend to gravitate to nature/landscape shots anyway.

But to me, the last one might be the more memorable one in this set. To me, that is the type of picture that would probably be enlarged and end up on the wall.

I have driven that rode in the past, even though I live in Texas. The scenic view was stunning to me.

oooh i see them now...you posted that comment above this picture i
thought they would be in this shot.
Hi Arthur, yeah, I goofed that comment. I thought you had brought that up earlier, but it was someone else... here's their comment and my reply. Sorry for messing you up like that... now I've wasted another 2min and 9 seconds of your life :( !
Beachfront cows? I quess I missed that. Did you get to the Hearst
Castle and Morro Bay? Great shots and great area.
lol, Oops - actually the cows are in #4! I guess I rearranged the pics but not - the text, duh!

Hey Mike, thanks for the comments! I definitely recommend driving this route and stopping often to explore. What's nice about this road is that you are able to stop and park almost anywhere along the side of the road and walk down to the shore/cliff. Sp parking is free and easily accessible. Not to mention all the charming little towns along the way.

Thanks Fred! I really like #6 as well :-).

I'm really happy with my D40x, but I hear all good things about the D40. I have to say I do like having the extra mpx when I crop to a composition or find another picture within the original composition. How much of a real world difference the extra mpx makes for that purpose I don't know, but I am happy with the results I get.

Thanks!

Thank you Lynn, that last one is one of my top favorites of this series - along with a couple of the bridge shots and #6.

I don't print much, but I am settled now in my new home so I may print a few I have in mind now to hang here.

Thanks again!

Thanks Jon, wish I could sell em too :-). Any recommendations?

btw, I saw your smugmug site, great portraits and wedding photos! I would like to get into portraits soon, it seems like a whole other realm of photography, but looking forward to learning and practicing it.

Thanks for commenting!

I'm finally catching up on some pictures. Here are a few pictures
from a drive down Hwy 1 along the central California Coast taken last
week - the full set is in my zenfolio gallery below. We caught
Pacific Coast Hwy near Monterey and continued down to Lompoc and
Santa Barbara, stopping along the way to explore.
wow great colors.. can we have a few tips on what color mode and what you have done in pp ? Looks super nice.

I will be visiting california for the first time very soon, this just made me look forward to it :0)

Best wishes

Jakob

hello Albert
your photos are stunning
my wife and I took the parlor car tour from San Francisco down to Los Angeles

in 2001 and we did HWY 1( Pacific Coast Hwy) starting from Carmel and for the most part it was pretty Foggy but we did get to see a lot going through Big Sur and the shots of the bridge remind when we went over it. We could not do what you did

because we were on a huge bus and it was scary at times because you are going down this HWY and cannot see the side of the road because you are high up in the bus but we stopped in Monterrey Carmel Sovang and Santa Barbara. The driver did take up to see some of the Red woods there. having your own car is great because you can stop anywhere and you got some great Big sur shots. The bridge are nice because you got them at different angles. will be in vegas, Zion and Bryce canyon starting on Suinday
thanks for sharing
