Went to the biggest renaissance re-enactment/festival in Croatia yesterday - Koprivnica, near the Hungarian border. Didn't spend much time, but I got back with some photos.

I have never seen such humongous turnips. Or swedes. Or rutabagas. Or whatever. I think this is the kind they make pies from.

Here's the hurdy-gurdy man.

And here's a knight duel. The guy on the left is trying to free a beautiful princess. :-)

A Slovak Landsknecht:

Kindergarten kids had their dances:

Finally, the local musketeers preparing for the final volley:

All shot with E-3, 14-54 and 50-200. EXIF is saved in the photos. For some more photos from the festival, visit http://www.clandestineart.com/photo/ren_1.html

We also have this festival here in USA Minnesota I will attend this weekend, it will be my first time and by the nice shots you got looks like a ver fun festival, what set up did you use?

Excellent stuff there... did you get the musket shot with fire coming out of the barrels against that sky?

Food for thought: a young photographer in China asked me some years ago whether I knew what Chinese painters, poets or sculptors would do when they became famous. I did not know. He said they would change their names to see whether they were still any good.

I normally hang out over in Nikon land, but the m4/3 system has peeked my interest in Oly.

The Texas festival is coming soon. Very cool to see that this crosses cultures.

Nice photos too!

Best;

Dave

Great pictures! Wow! In the first photo, I think those are pumpkins -- and you're right -- they are huge.

Gotta get an SLR -- pictures like this make me lament my point 'n shoot!

Really nice job you did. Musketeers are awesome and for get those pumpkins right, well, get yourself a 12-60 or 7-14, but you know that anyway. ;-))

thanks.

7-14, yes. But I don't feel an overwhelming urge to get a 12-60, since I have the 14-54. What I want is 35-100 (and almost certainly 14-35).

And an OM 350/2.8 or Leica 400/2.8. Yeah, right. I just need to check for loose change behind the cushions on the sofa. :-)

You have really big sofa and cushion then, and where they are? :-)
