hey all, well i just got my 3rd UZI...hope this is not a dud as the others are. but i was out taking pics of my dog and the flash indicator always blinked almost everytime i was taking a pic. my dog is black and tan and outside is as bright as the sun...why would it indicate using a flash???

I have a similar occurence with my UZI. It does this when focusing on dark objects regardless of the amount of surrounding light. I suspect it is more frequent when using spot focusing. I usually ignore the flash warning if I know lighting conditions are o.k., and 98% of the time the pic turns out fine. It's low light conditions when I obey the warning and adjust accordingly (up the ISO, etc).

I'd like to hear a technical reasoning, and also if this is normal for the UZI? My Fuji 2400 constantly gives me a blinking green light in even modest lighting conditions, I also ignore it and the pics turn out fine.

Mine allmost allways blinks too in any conditions bright or dark. I never paid much attention to it before. I use spot focus and ISO 100. maybe its because it thinks you should use a higher ISO setting but since you locked in a lower one it wants to flash.

Mine has been doing the same thing for well over 8000 shot, just ignore it.

...kinda was thinking mebbe it was suggesting fill flash...
...could be the case with the dark coloring of your dog, too...
...and the ISO 100 selection thought makes sense as well...
...I have sooo much to learn...

I think you are correct. Any photo of a black dog in bright sunlight will appear as a sillouette without fill flash.
