I was wondering what other peoples dream E-system kits consist of. Lets be reasonable here, of course I'd love to have every lens made plus bodies and flash units, plus backups, but my wife won't be letting that happen....

So lets set some parameters. We'll start with these, not a a hard rule, but not too much overlap. We'll leave out backups because that is really out of the question for most folks.

Two bodies. (A starter and an upgrade say)
Four or five lenses, max. Only one each macro, wide angle, and extreme telephoto
One lens accessory such as the EX25, EC14 or EC20
One Flash unit

One Wild Card, this could be anything such as another lens, flash or body, or whatever

I know that I said "Dream kit", but I guess I'll state that my dream kit is something that I could see happening someday, so its realistic, and not just the most $$$

Bodies: E410 (already have) E520 (dream)

Lenses: 11-22(have) 14-54 (dream) 50mm macro (dream) 50-200 (dream) 25mm pancake (dream) EC20 for the 50-200
FL50r, just to have it when I really need it

And my wild card is a used E1 body so I can have a weather sealed system when the weather is $#!%.

Thats mine, whats yours?

It appears that y'all are not dreamers eh? Oh well those canon and nikon specs have me pretty occupied too, guess I'll just have find something to troll about to get any responses around here.....uhhhhh FF rocks? Oly is for beginners? Dying system??

Already owned: E410, sigma 18-50/2.8, 2x vivitar 285hvs + 2x pocket wizard plusIIs

Want to own ASAP: sigma 30/1.4, 50-200 SWD + 2x teleconverter, 11-22/2.8-3.5, various filters

Future purchase: E3 or similar body

Other dreams include: Full Pany kit w/ L1 body or similar, 14-150mm + 25/1.4

That's it I believe.

  • Two bodies. (A starter and an upgrade say)
(wish list in red)
E-520 (have)for every day and
E-1 (or E??) for weather
  • Four or five lenses, max. Only one each macro, wide angle, and extreme telephoto
Um, but if I pick the 70-300, that counts as two choices?
12-60, 70-300 (have both)
50mm f2, And since this is a dream package, 90-250 + EC-20 (wildcard) and the 7-14 (just to have it)
  • One lens accessory such as the EX25, EC14 or EC20
Can't do w/o the EX-25
  • One Flash unit
FL-50r... If I'm getting a flash out of this deal, might as well be the best
  • One Wild Card, this could be anything such as another lens, flash or body, or whatever
see above

What, no tripod/monopod? bag?

And I'm actually giving up my kit lenses, OM glass and bellows... Wait, let me start again...
12-60, 70-300, 14-42,
(can I ask for a 400+mm ZD here?), 50mm f2 (just to have a faster lens)
EC-14
FL50r
and for the wildcard, OM bellows converted to 4/3 using parts from EX-25
(sortof have, have all the parts, just need to do the kitbash)

Hmm, giving up my OMZ 50mm 1.8 and macro, 200mm f4, and 400mm Aetna (no great loss there)

But there's other lenses I'd like as well... the Leica 14-150 would be cool for street fair type stuff, and a 50-200 for when speed and IQ is more important than reach and portability. (leaving out the 90-250, not ready for a lens worth more than my car)

14-35mm
35-100mm
90-250mm

EC-20

FL-50R

50mm (Wildcard)

Two bodies. (A starter and an upgrade say)
510 (got) + smaller E3 featured tweener (dream)
Four or five lenses, max. Only one each macro, wide angle, and
extreme telephoto
12-60 (got) + 25/1.4 (got) + 50-200 (dream) + 7-14(dream)

I really don't care for macro and don't want to lug around any of the super pro lenses (except the 7-14).
One lens accessory such as the EX25, EC14 or EC20
I guess the EC14 but I imagine it wouldn't get a whole lot of use.
One Flash unit
Metz 48 AF (going to get soonish)
One Wild Card, this could be anything such as another lens, flash or
body, or whatever
A 42/1.2 if they make such a beast.

Cheers,

For the bodies it will be the proposed Tweener depending on its specs and if its is splash proof or an E3.

7-14mm lens,12-60mm lens,50-200mm lens,50mm macro lens.

EC-14,EX25 as the wild card.

FL-50R flash.

I currently have the following;E510,E330,8mm FE,35mm macro,14-42(X2),40-150,18-180,70-300mm,EX25,FL-36.Numerous OM equipment.

My dream is an EVIL m4/3 camera so my E500 will be the backup.

I have the 11-22, 14-45(kit), 40-150(kit) and some lenses in Pentax K mount with an adapter.
Dream lenses: 7-13 and 50 Macro.
I also dream for an underwater housing for the M4/3 and an underwater flash.
I hope that part of the dream will be reality after Photokina.

At the moment my dream kit is the kit I own;
E-3/ 12-60SWD/ 50-200SWD / 50mm F2.
Perfect for travelling!

While it might not be ideal to take extra, I certainly would love to try the 7-14mm and a few longer F2 lenses (150mm/ 300 mm/etc.).

I would take an E520 (dream) and an E3 (dream) for bodies

then for lenses... Sigma 105mm macro (have) (replace with Oly 100mm macro when it comes out), 14-35F2 (dream), 11-22 (have), 50-200 non SWD (have), 12-60 (dream)
EC20 (dream) for 50-200
FL50R (Dream)
wild card would be 35-100F2 (dream)

What I acutally have is different... haha
E1, E330, and E500

lens = 11-22, 14-54, 50-200 non SWD, and sigma 105mm macro, pancake, and 40-150 (old and new)
flash FL36
and thats it for what I have fro 4/3

Okey my take on this:

E3 & E430 (the new weather sealed pro spec body) with
12 f1.8 (the new weather sealed pancake to go with E430)
14-54 f2.8-3.5
35-100 f2
100 f2.8 macro
7-14 f4
90-250 f2.8
25 f1.4

Metz 58 flash

and a mule to carry it all with me.

Bodies: E-3 and E-3 (Have E-3 + E-1 right now)

Lenses: 8 FE, 14-35, 50-200, 90-250, 50 macro (I have the 8, 50 and 50-200 already)
Accessory: EC20 (have that one)
Flash: FL50 (have that) (have a bunch of R-flashes as well)
The wild card: 11-22 (don't have that one)

Seems I am a little on my way, only the really expensive stuff left, but the second E-3 shouldn't be too far as the E-1 has been beaten enough and it has way over 100'000 exposures now...

Olympus body with Fuji/Kodak CCD quality.... maybe ZD 14-35 F2.0

+ 25 1.4 (or 1.2 if possible)

Let's see, where should I start.......

1. Bodies

---Olympus E-3 w/ battery grip (can't get anymore butch than this one; excellent for jacking up your street cred)

---Leica Digilux 3 (for that unmistakable old-school feel and unlimited bragging rights)
---Olympus E-420 (for those casual dinners or when I'm starting to feel my age)

---Panasonic LX-3 (see above, except when I'm feeling not just my age, but my arm breaking off after a weekend with the camera on the top of the list)

2. Lenses

---ZD 12-60 SWD (the ultimate carry around lens; still thinking of how to procure this one)

---ZD 50-200 SWD (great for getting close to your neighbors; hook it up with the EC-20 telecon and you've got yourself an 800mm shoot-to-kill hand cannon)

---Leica D-Summilux 25mm f/1.4 (for impressing the chickies with your lame-o portrait skills)

---Leica D-Vario Elmar 14-150mm (see top, except you can now wow the pants off your colleagues because it's a Leica)

---ZD 25mm f/2.8 (combine with the lilliputian E-420 for the ultimate casual shooter)

---An arsenal of old-school SLR lenses (e.g Leica Noctilux/Summicron primes, Carl Zeiss Tessar/Biogon/Pancolar primes, Asahi SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4)

3. Flashes

---FL-50R (just one for the moment, thank you)

.....and I guess that's just about it. Anything more than that and it's not photography anymore: it's a buy-all-and-show-off frenzy.

I think I should confess that I have already accumulated a lot of what I dreamed about one year ago. Getting more would feel like selfishness.

But if I am allowed to really go overboard, then I could see myself upgrading a few items ...
  • body : I'm set and happy with E-3 and E-330 as backup
  • UWA : ditto with 7-14mm
  • standard zoom : 14-54 could become 12-60
  • telephoto : 50-200 could become 35-100 (but too short) or 150 or 90-250
  • macro : I'm keeping the 50mmF2.0!
  • fast short prime : I would gladly trade Zuiko 25mmF2.8 for Summilux 25mm F1.4
(for all those lens "upgrades" there is, however, always a second thought : I am afraid I would regret losing some of the take-anywhere portability that the current lenses have -- speed in aperture does come at a cost...)

flash : I could trade FL36 for FL50R
  • wild card : I would love to have a VERY lightweight yet VERY sturdy tripod (preferably foldable to no size at all...) with the perfect ball head

Two bodies. (A starter and an upgrade say)
2x E 3 w/grips
Four or five lenses, max. Only one each macro, wide angle, and
extreme telephoto
7-14, 12-60, 50-200, 50mm, 300 f 2.8 (dreaming)
One lens accessory such as the EX25, EC14 or EC20
EC 20
One Flash unit
FL 50r
One Wild Card, this could be anything such as another lens, flash or
body, or whatever
A FF body with one large apertue lens, sorry I don't know enough about them to say which.

My first instinct was to say all of the top pro lenses, but I have carried a E 3, 7-14, 12-60, 50-200, flash and converters around for 2-3 weeks at a time in Mexico. I can't imagine carrying a complete set of the top tier lenses everywhere.

That said, the limitations are just that, too limiting. I'd miss my 11-22, 35mm and ringflash for starters.
