990 in Singapore $$$$

Just in yesterday at Cathay Photo selling at S$1850 (> US$1000)! with 16mb card. Stadard pack.

Damn it's so expensive here...

The 950 is expensive here too. I bought mine last year for S$1650. 3 months later, Cathay was selling it for S$1500 or so.

Same goes to CompactFlash cards. Average of about S$270 (US$158) for 64MB.

It's expensive, but what a great place to live! I've had the pleasure of traveling there 5 times and truly enjoyed both the place and the people.

The locals call it "hang price". Stocks are so short and they are gone
in a flash. Got mine today for S$1650. Thats close to US$1000, the premium
is for local warranty.

Its worth evey cent. Took a self portrait and am able to see

every pores and facial hairs. Don't shoot your girl friend too close, she would be shocked to see her moustache.

Just got my very own 990 after a long wait. Cost S$1,640 form a local photo
shop. He said stock is very very limited.
After taking a shot you can comfirm the sharpness of the shot with the LCD
when zoomming it, the so sharp and clear when you look at the right angle.

Dennis where can you get 64mb for S$270.

First, where did you buy your 990 for $1650? That is a more reasonable deal.

Second, the compact flash was mentioned by CK Ng...so I dun know.

John 3:16 @ Funan Centre quoted me $270, I didn't ask which brand.

DOML (doml.com.sg) lists 64MB Kingston CF cards at S$270, but it's not available for purchase yet. Sandisk is expensive here. S$229 for 48MB, S$319 for 64.
