My G2 went to Hawaii (and all I got were these pictures!)

Phenomenal pictures! Poster quality!

Looks like a great trip. I need to go back right away. Is there a way I can see the settings used for each picture? I am still learning the G2's capabilities.
Just got back from a great trip to Hawaii (Oahu, the Big Island,
and Maui) with my G2, which performed flawlessly. I used a Nixvue
Digital Album to download each day's shots.

Thanks!! If I get some free time, I'll see if I can post the individual settings, but I can tell you they were all shot at max resolution (2272x1704), "superfine" compression, jpeg. I thought about using RAW, but I wanted to save a little space, and I find that I usually don't need the advantages that RAW gives.

Beautiful pictures, Scott! Some are fantastically sharp, specifically the boat shots and Waikiki Beach shot, did you use a tripod? Much post processing sharpness? Again, very well done.

Thanks, Eric! I only used a tripod on the 2 night shots of Waikiki, and the one of Lahaina (and that one was with one of those small mini-pods braced against a telephone pole). All the others are handheld. For sharpness, I use PhotoPaint 9, which has an "adaptive unsharp" filter. This seems to work better than a regular unsharp mask (not quite so "harsh").

AWESOME! Makes me homesick because I'm from Hana, Maui and went to high school in Lahaina. After college I lived on Oahu for five years--since 1984 I've lived in Anchorage, Alaska. I hope you don't mind that I downloaded a couple of shots to use as a screensaver. Let me know if you do. Looks like you had a great vacation and the G2 makes it even more fun--especially when reviewing the day's shots. Aloha. GUY

Wow, Hana is a tiny place (but beautiful)! I'll take Hawaii over Alaska, but both are nice places to visit.

These are truely amazing pictures. I am new to G2 and photography in general and my pictures are aweful. Any tips for sunny shots.

Great pictures, and not ONLY due to Hawaii ... your other galleries are also great. Take a time to take a look at Madeira Island, maybe one day you will come here with your G2 and take another bunch of great pictures :-)

I am starting to make a gallery of Madeira but i have still a lot to photograph. Here you can already find some:

Hi Paulo,

Your Madeira galleries are excellent! It looks like a very beautiful island, and my G2 and I just might show up there some day. I've never visited there, but I have been to the Azores - they're very nice, too.

Great island to explore and enjoy. I was there in Oahu in 1985 for a few days only. I would certainly like to go back and spend more time exploring and taking pictures. Your New Hampshire pictures are great too. More of the mist scenery would be even better.

Scott...Well done! Your galleries are truly superb. I love my G2 and I am getting to know the nuances of the digital experience. I would like to offer my congratulations on your eye for composition. Some day I hope to get in the same league. I was especially taken with your Zion gallery. If you get to Page AZ and the Lake Powell area, don't omit seeing/photographing Antelope Canyons. Regards, Tim

Scott:

These photos are incredible! How much work did you do to get them so beautiful? Your composition is breathtaking. In fact if I didn't know better, I'd think some of your autumn photos were actually Monets! Thanks for sharing your work - it is truly inspiriing. I just got my G2 delivered today - in fact, just got it charged up. I don't know a thing about it - so now I've got a bunch of learning to do! Having never done any digital photography at all, it's a bit intimidating. But I chose the G2 over the CP5000 precisely because so many speak of how much more "intuitive" it is. How anybody could produce a picture better than those you have done is beyond me - but hopefully not for long! Ha! Your photos have really gotten my juices flowing! Thanks!
