Well got back with the family from Banff, Alberta after a nice holiday. Trying to balance the family vacation/picture taking thing is always a challenge and while I never got dedicated photography time, I did manage to get some shots in:

Thanks for looking and as always, any C&C are more than welcome

really nice color and composition for the three 1st pics, even though I would prefer to "freeze" the water in that case rather than the silky smooth effect...

very nice

best regards,

Thanks :)

The first one, Johnson Canyon, is pretty over processed when I look at it now. I downloaded the trial for Color efex to try with CNX and got a little carried away.

It is just as lovely in summer as it was in winter, or more so. I am
particularly struck by that last one--the cloud seems to be boiling
off the mountain. Is that Mt. Rundle?
Thanks for comments!

Yes that is Mt. Rundle. It was pouring all morning with low clouds. When the rain stopped we headed into Banff (from Canmore). As we were pulling up to the Springs hotel my wife was lucky enough to notice the clouds blowing off. I thought I was pretty lucky to get it as it only lasted about 20min. Shot it with D300, Nikon 70-200 f/11, 1/640 and iso200

Nicely composed, and nicely post-processed -- it's a pleasure to see such photos getting the post-processing they deserve in order to pop!
