What a wonderful thing! I recently picked up a G2, and have taken probably about 200 pictures with it in the last couple of weeks. Not too many things have been as exciting as taking decent pictures ( at least I think so ), run them thru Photoshop, then take them to Walmart and print out 63 of the best for $16. What fun! I had a couple of people at work take a look at the prints, and one of them wants to buy some Nikon for about 8K, but was pretty impressed with the quality of the G2. I tried to tell him to get the D60, but he has alot of Nikon accessories.

Please take a look at some of my best shots and let me know what I can do to make some of the shots better. I have a mix of bugs, animals, battle ships, rainbows, long night exposures, and trick photos (I only have 1 daughter). I would like to know how to do some of these better like the macro shots, where I took about 30 and got 3 that were somewhat crisp.

Why do the pbase pictures have artifacts in them? I just noticed this. The originals do not have this.

Thanks for any tips you can give me on how to do some of these better, like the macros and trick photos.

I figured out the artifact issue, pbase is using a high compression method to make the image fit on the screen. Ahhh, the light bulb goes on!

It sure looks like you'r enjoying the new G2 The pictures turned out great just keep working on what you like and try cropping a little..Take a gander at my pbase pictures.. http://www.pbase.com/ivan4741/root

You've got some great shots there. The blue on that peacock is really intense. Was he really that blue? Great work on the wasp shots.

I think the shot looking up at the ship (IMG_0473) would be much more dramatic if you cropped it to include just the ship, eliminating the houses on the right and most of the building on the left. I downloaded the image, cropped it like that, and the result was quite impressive.

Wow, quite a selection of bikes! I won't disclose what bike I own, it wouldn't fit in with the others in your album! Do you own a HD and take it to all the gatherings? What do you think of the new Vrod?

Thanks for the tip on the ship, I will try that. The peacock shot is one of those 1 in a million. We were walking along and passed a foliage horse (ivy and spider plants in the shape of a stallion. The peacock decided he wanted up on the back of this horse. I got the close-up, and didn't have time to pan back and get the entire package...

The peacock was very blue, but the light was pretty bright. I did a little hue/saturation to bring down the light a bit, but then had to bump up the color to compensate. Not too much though, the bird was bright.
