Browsing through the dpreview forum, I discovered the M$ Cash back site at:
http://search.live.com/cashback

Here are the results for the D300: http://search.live.com/cashback/products/offerings/18003/8763502

I still don't understand how the retailers make money -- advertising with Microsoft?

My concern is that JR.com is not explicitly listed as an Authorized dealer with Nikon. This link comes direct from the Nikon USA site:

http://www.nikonusa.com/fileuploads/pdfs/Authorized_Dealers/Nikon_AuthDealers.pdf

The only similar listings are:
J & R MUSIC WORLD
JR SHOOTING SPORTS

Resellerratings.com has them in the middle of the pack: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/J_R_Computers

But if it comes down to a warranty claim within the 1 year time frame, is the buyer covered?

They are authorized- Nikon does not list web sites. They shipped us older models with Capture NX. Packing isn't very good but no problems in the end. The deal now is better than I got at 12%.

I just bought the Nikon 16-85vr from J&R using this discount. Saved about $70 and got the lowest online price i could find. It was delivered yesterday with Nikon warranty, etc.

It's a 15% Cash back with Live Microsoft from buying anything from JR.com now.

Hey Guys,
Have you been able to claim the cash back from purchase w Live Search?
Thanks,
Peter

I don't know why they aren't listed as an Authorized Nikon dealer but I can assure that they are. They carry a bunch of Nikon USA Warranty products (not as much as B&H).

I've been purchasing from them for over 15 years and they are highly reputable merchant in NYC. I bought a D80 and a later a D300 from them. My 17-55mm lens was also purchased at J&R.

They actually have like 5 separate stores on ONE city block.

Yes. There is something like a 30 day "escrow" period in case you do a product return, and then they credit your PayPal or Bank Account directly.

I just logged on to Microsoft Live and J&R is only 6% now. Was happened to the 12%?
