Hi, I am a newbie to DSLR. I urgently need some Professional Photographer advises.

I am planning to buy Canon 450D or Nikon D60 (incoming 2 days time)

But I a few questions as follow, and I wish have some answer from the community:

1) I found some user comment on the focusing issue on Canon 450D. They said the it had been hard to focus during a center mode used. Any owner of 450D can give some advices?

2) If I wish to purchase the additional lenses (wide angle/tele) in futures, which brand is more cheaper/affordable (I have limited of budget)

3) Lenses between Canon and Nikon, which is better? Quality wise?

4) Which is more comfortable during holding the Camera? Canon or Nikon?

I appreciate DPreview member would sharing the experience with me.

Thanks

Lawrence

Not much difference. Both brands have budget and premium lens ranges. One thing to bear in mind is that you will not be able to autofocus with Nikon lenses that do not contain a focus motor, when using the D60. This applied to a few affordable prime lenses.
3) Lenses between Canon and Nikon, which is better? Quality wise?
Not much difference. Both brands have high quality lenses.
4) Which is more comfortable during holding the Camera? Canon or Nikon?
That's a personal preference only you can answer. Go to a shop and handle them both before making a decision.

Some people have problmes and others get fine results. Canon clames there is no problme and if there was one they would fix it.

Both have cheap, decent and top of the line lenses. You get what you pay for.

There competitive, though you want cheap so expect cheap results.

This is a personal thing. You must try it your self.

For a starter camera they both look good. I personally think the D60 having only 3 focus points is a setback against it. However, if you only think you will use the center one (or don't know what I am even talking about) don't worry about it. Also, go play with them at a store and see which one feels better in your hand, if that doesn't help you choose, get the one that fits your budget best.

Canon and nikon have plenty of selection of lenses. Right now I would say Nikon has a better selection of the mid to low grade lenses you would most likely be interested in buying for a D60. (not to say they are bad, they are all significantly better than what a person would have expected even 10 yrs ago.)
