Hello everyone,

there is a huge interest in the E-520 right now, and Safari Group member, Chris Cooper has produced a very topical review of the E-520, as an upgrade from the E-500.

Over 100 Safari Group members have already downloaded the draft version of this report, and we've had some great feedback, so I hope that you will find it a worthwhile read.

You can register to download this, and all of our reports here :

Thanks to Chris Cooper, Michael Knowles for the DTP - and the many Safari Group members who helped to review the draft report.

These reports are a 100% team effort - we'd really appreciate your feedback here.

Kind Regards

Brian

I've registered and recieved previous reports by email.

But I didn't recieved any password requests, so I don´t have a login.

How do I receive this report?

As a E500 double kit user I am quite interested.

I am leaning towards buying better glass, but it will mean commiting to one system, as i don't I have the time or patience or means to buy sell gear constantly.

Still don't know if that commitment wil be with Olympus though.

Thanks for the link. User reviews are always interesting for me...

I wonder whether a bit more detail on the images might be helpful in the future though. Handling and features are of course significant, but so is the end-product!

Of course, since I have a travel report to write-up, I appreciate that fitting everything in can be a challenge too!

Cheers,

Why the hassle of going to a site and then having to log in...and then having to wait for an email that doesn't come right away. Kind of too much, isn't it. Aren't you kind of giving this scenario a bit too much mystique? I'm not complaining - it's just why can't we go to your site and read it there?

As always - good shooting....

Some of these reviews will be in multiple parts... with different Safari Group members contributing alternative viewpoints, from their own personal perspective.

If we can capture a fraction of the experience which zooms out of view on the forums... this should be a worthwhile exercise.

Thanks for subscribing,

Great!

Sure would be. The main problem with the forum is useful stuff is hard to separate from less useful stuff, and harder still to find when it's more than a day or two old...

I agreed with Ben Hermans, why rapporting behind bars....

If the rapport suites the Oly community, it's must be a privilege to make it public to anyone without asking there names and so on. There are already to much sites we have to subscribe for.

I do understand that the UKPSGroup is a sub community for equaly interested people in the UK for photography who invest a lot in what they like most and thats fantastic.

But there are a lot outside the UK and they are member of Dpreview, wich I thought is a open community without reservations where we meet each other with our mutual interest, images, story's questions and expiriences, for now. That must be enough I suppose.

I like to read it, but I don't sign up for now.

Brian, before that my message are mistaken, it's no criticism, it's just a free opinion.

Hi Brian,

I'm sure you've provided some interesting and useful info on your website, but I, too, am not interested in going to a site and registering to read a review, especially with the dearth of info already available on the web. Nevertheless, thanks.

Hi Ben,
Why the hassle of going to a site and then having to log in...and
then having to wait for an email that doesn't come right away. Kind
of too much, isn't it.
we've made is as simple and lightweight as possible - just pop your name and e-mail address into the form here :
http://www.ukphotosafari.org/ukpsg-reports/

and then, within a minute or so, you should receive a confirmation e-mail - click on the link in that e-mail to confirm your request for our info. This is a professional, anti-spam mailing list.

It should be clear that we take your privacy extremely seriously - from the form above "Your details will only be used to provide you with free information from the UKPSG, and may be completely removed by you at any time."
Aren't you kind of giving this scenario a bit
too much mystique? I'm not complaining - it's just why can't we go
to your site and read it there?
Yes you can, now that you've subscribed... we're trying to connect enthusiastic Olympus shooters worldwide, rather than entertain random surfers. I hope that makes sense, and value your wide experience - perhaps you'll consider contributing to our special reports and projects in the future.

Kind Regards

Brian

Thank you for voicing your concerns,
I agreed with Ben Hermans, why rapporting behind bars....
the controls are there to filter out random surfers and to serve genuinely interested people with real-world, experience based reports.
If the rapport suites the Oly community, it's must be a privilege to
make it public to anyone without asking there names and so on. There
are already to much sites we have to subscribe for.
The reports are hard work to put together, and I want to make sure that they're being delivered reliably to a building audience - our Safari Group members are not paid professionals - they are independent users from all walks of life and all over the world.
I do understand that the UKPSGroup is a sub community for equaly
interested people in the UK for photography who invest a lot in what
they like most and thats fantastic.
Almost correct - we started off in the UK, but now we're international.
But there are a lot outside the UK and they are member of Dpreview,
wich I thought is a open community without reservations where we meet
each other with our mutual interest, images, story's questions and
expiriences, for now. That must be enough I suppose.
The Safari Group is international, and focused on getting out and inspiring each other to improve our photography - we don't have a forum, we don't have paid reviewers, we don't have paid advertising - we're a cooperative group of Olympus shooters.

Personally, dpreview is my favourite on-line forum and general review site... I think the open forums are amazing - anonymous surfers can drop in and have an argument about anything, it just gets frustrating sometimes when you're trying to seperate the fact from friction :)
I like to read it, but I don't sign up for now.
That's exactly how it should be... 100% your choice - and saves our bandwidth for our Safari Group members and subscribers.

Kind Regards

The response to this report has been huge - our most popular report to date... obviously there are a lot of people interested in upgrading from the E-500 to the latest stabilised body. The E-520 is a superb package imho for 4/3rds... I just hope that a future body will have an articulated / wifi screen and weathersealing.

Thanks for all the feedback, and thanks to Chris Cooper for a great little report.

More reports being reviewed by our Safari Group members right now, should be ready to publish in the next couple of days :)

Kind Regards
