Hi Hugh,

Wow, great image, definitely worth breaking a few traffic laws!

With this result I hope you break more of them in the future ;-)

Regards,

Alfred
Hello Alfred,

I'll tell the Trooper you said it was OK :-). Thanks for the kind words. Several of the pictures I've posted previously were taken while I was parked just off of the shoulder by an interstate. I've had officers and Roadside assistance folks stop, but, so far, they have been OK with it. I hope the trend continues.

Hi Hugh,

an amazing shot! The cloud looks beautiful but dangerous ... like a
forerunner of a hurricane.

Klaus

Hello Klaus,

I'm very glad you like it. A large area producing lots of clouds like this one could be the indication of a storm. This localized, one cloud area did not cause any trouble.

hugh I knew you were a lawless criminal , LOL, this is a unique,
excellent photo, love the barbed wire in the foreground. DL
Hello DL,

Darn, I was trying to keep that secret :-). Glad you like the picture. The fence was to provide perspective. I'm glad to know it worked.

Whoa- looks almost like a nuclear blast -- and the barb adds to the
shot -- hope you did not get arrested pulling off like that
--reminds me of Ansel's story where there are just seconds involved
--great one hugh!

MAC
Hello MAC,

No fallout in this one, except maybe a rain shower. No arrests. Not even a comment, this time :-). This didn't last long. The last six pictures at: http://www.lightechos.com , the "Weekend 0602" gallery were taken in a fifteen minute time period.

Thanks for the comment and the compliments.

Beautiful, Hugh! I love these clouds and stop whenever I see one
like this. I think we need bumperstickers that say something like:
WARNING! This car stops for all cool clouds!
Kim
Hello Kim,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The bumper sticker idea is a good one. Maybe a takeoff on the rapture one, "This vehicle wil be unmanned in the event of a photo op." :-).

Wow Hugh,

Awesome capture, eyecatching color in that cloud for sure. enjoyed
seeing this one thanks for sharing

Hello Rick,

Thanks for the comment. I guess the best selective color is done by nature :-).

Back on line and starting to catch up on what I missed.

A striking composition Hugh, worth risking a ticket for!

That is some thunderhead, meteorology is an interesting subject, there is unbelieveable power in such a cumulo-nimbus.

best regards
Steve

Very nice Hugh

You caught the light at the right moment.
The color you achieve on this cloud is wonderfull as a painting.

Also I visit your web and bookmarked to see more about your work.
It's nice to see part of the process in your site.
Thanks for share it.

Hi Hugh

Very impressive image and a wonderful gallery. Also, (unlike
previous comment) frame is doing somthing good to the image. Loved
the opportunity to pick to your gallerys and book marked them to
return. I was amazed how much and how good are your images and how
many of them I have never seen befor. also your site is nothing
short of incredible. It is something I am considering for quite
some time now and probably willl ask you about it when time will be
more generouse with me

Thanks for all those beautiful things you are doing

Ruvy
Hello Ruvy,

I am humbled by your kind words, and very pleased you enjoyed the site. It was very easy to set up, and I will be glad to discuss it with you at your convenience. I strongly recommend you get a web site. It is fun and rewarding.

You are certainly welcome.

With appreciation,

Hi hugh,

Very interesting color for the cloud. Though I have to admit it
does remind me of things I don't like to think about unless I have
to - and sometimes you do have to think about them.

The tree and the other greens soften the view of the cloud - must
have been an interesting evening(?) watching clouds :)

John
Hello John,

Thank you for the comment. This cloud was an ok cloud :-). It caused no bad weather. It was a quick morning of looking for easy subjects because I had to get back and finish a priority project for work. I was pleased to be able to "find" something like this. I'm glad you like it too.

Hi Hugh,

5203. That's my favorite from this group. I like the frame on these
as well as your wonderful sense of framing and composition. I
admire your willingness to break the laws of man to document one of
the beautiful scenes of nature as well as admiring your skills and
abilities as a photographer to be able to create these images.

Stan
Hello Stan,

Thank you for taking the time to comment for the detailed evaluation. I considered posting 5203, but finally decided it was just a bit too much of a departure. I'm glad to know you like it. I am coming to the opinion that frames are necessary, and hope to find a more flexible frame building process. The action in PS can be modified, but I haven't found the places that give me the necessary control. As always, I appreciate you kind words.

The barbed wire and the mushroom-like cloud reminds me of some
world war scenario.
Good afternoon,

The fence seems to have had a similar effect on a couple of people. It was unintended. I like to have a foregroud element in a landscape to provide a perspective and emphasize the depth. In this case, the fence was all there was. I hope it was not too tramatic.

hugh

I love the composition, and the outstanding cloud.

Gene

P.S is there a dust on the CCD/CMOS?
Hello Gene,

Thank you for the comment and the compliments. There is always some dust on a sensor. I try to clone it out, but sometimes I miss some. Sorry.

I'm glad you stopped and got a shot of this brief moment, it's pretty impressive. The barb wire of course adds a nice touch. I've seen so many nice scenes when driving on a highway, but I've never stopped to get a shot (because it's illegal here in Finland, and the fine is relative to income, so the fine can be quite outrageous...)

Hello Steve,

Welcome back. Thanks for the comment. It's amazing when you think how much energy it takes to raise that much water that high. I'm glad you like the picture.
