Now that I have my S9000 and have printed a few 8x10 and borderless 8.5x11 prints, I am interested in printing on the large paper. I am sure the prints will look really good.

As I read the posts, it seem like the S9000 will print up to 12.5x18.5 print, or easily a 12 by 18 print. That's a nice size, same aspect ratio as 4 by 6. But when I look around in stores that sell frames, they go 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, etc. So what do you guys do with this fabulous print you made on this 13x19 paper? Are there 12x18 frames available? Where? I guess one could use a 16x20 frame and put a border around the print. Thanks for any ideas.

Just go to a frame shop and they'll make you one to size. It's not expensive, and especially good if you want to crop the photo or add a border.

I like a border around any size print. It makes a picture look more esthetically pleasing. This is especially true of large prints that may not blend well with the wall behind them.

Gus,

I think a good card border and quality frame will enhance a good photograph.

I have a 30" x 10" print produced from a Minolta S1 APS image (yes - I purchased the other one) above my computer workstation. It is a panoramic view of Wast Water in the (UK) Lake District and it receives many positive comments. The purpose made frame, card border and professional mounting cost me £35.00. Worth every penny as it turned a print into a picture.

When I purchase my S9000, (got the paper ready) which are a bit like rocking horse droppings at the moment, that is what I will do to the next masterpiece.

I don't put all that many on my walls (my son. daughter and friends have got a few) but those I do I like to do well. Cost a bit of brass to get to that final photo I suppose.

What if, this is as good as it is going to get?

Photographs should be mounted under a mat board and framed. A good source of framing supplies (including custom cut mat boards and frames) is

Light Impressions at:

http://www.lightimpressionsdirect.com/servlet/OnlineShopping

Also Calumet Photo a very reputable mail order supply company in Chicago also has framing supplies (though not as extensive as Light Impressions but sometimes a little less expensive)

Good luck

I have an Epson 1270 and have printed a few as large as 12.75x17" (3x4 aspect ratio). I got a mat cut to 12.25x16.5" hole that fit into a 16x20" frame. I use premade 16x20" frames (about 25-30$) and usually premade single or double mats 10.5x13.5" (about $7-8 for the double) which fit 11x14" prints perfectly. The price difference between premade and custom made frames and mats is huge, about 4X. Thus my normal prints are 11x14 on 11x17" paper, while the 13x17" prints are on 13x19" paper. I feel the upsizing of my 3 mp image to the 11x14 size is already quite a bit, so I have been trying out Genuine Fractals for the 13x17" size (printing at 240 dpi). Is your image already cropped to 2x3 aspect ratio, consumer dgicams are all 3x4?

I bought 18*24 glass frames. The print sits 2.5 inches from each border.

The frame is a piece of glass with a back board made of material similar to a clip board, and 10 small metal clips that hold the glass front to the back board.

Between the glass front and the backing lie the print, and a sheet of backing paper to hide the clip board material. I don't have a mat cutter, so I havent put a mat in it, but I think it would fit in front of the picture.

Email me with the text "glass frame" in your subject and I will send you a reply with a picture of this type of frame with one of my 13*19's in it.

Including my email address would help.

Here it is,
