FZ50 - HDR shots x 3 - Marysville and Lake Mountain - VIC, Australia

Beautiful water shots. Really like the contrasting sharpness of the rocks with the soft water.

The Tee Tree or Manuka as we call it is OK. But I would have pushed the HDR effects a bit more myself. Depends what your after.

Checked out your other photos - very impressive. Really liked your motion shots, the tram, the people on the pier. The St Kilda night beach shot is beautiful.

These are some of the most natural HDR photos I have seen. Usually, the introduction of tone-mapping is so obvious that I had begun to wonder if it was possible to get a natural-looking result.

Very nice.

Your images are a nice confirmation of sanity for me (at least when it comes to HDR -- haha), as I've been dabbling in HDR for a little while now, but not pushing it too much because I don't care for unnatural looking HDR. It's good to see someone else doing more natural HDR as well. I can definitely see a difference from what I would normally expect of the FZ50 from a single shot (especially the third one).

Very nice! I'll have to follow your future threads, looking for more HDR examples.

What app are you using to combine the images? I currently use Photomatrix, and not that I'm not happy with it, but I'm always looking to make sure that I'm not missing out on anything else that may have been released since making that decision.

You're right, less IS more when it comes to HDR and your photos prove it. They look natural with nice contrast. Most HDR's I have seen look unnatural and downright wierd.

hiya all

FZ50 was used with a tripod here

HDR software was photomatrix pro V2.5

Being honest, I've found that 9/10 times that 'generate HDR' then clicking Tonemapping on all the standard settings gives excellent results, then simply tweak the settings from there, usually gamma is a bit low/dark, and saturation is little too high!

Very nice job bleugh. That first shot is really gorgeous. That's one HUGE waterfall! :)

That's been my experience, too -- I mostly just keep the defaults. If you modify anything too much, that's when things start looking unnatural (at least in my opinion).
